Abstinence from meat is to be observed on all Fridays within the season of Lent and Passiontide and on Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, everyone over 18 and up to the beginning of their 60 th year is also bound to observe the law of fast. On these two days, only one full meatless meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one's needs; but together they should not equal another full meal. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, therefore, are the only days of both fast and abstinence. CRS Rice Bowl asks us, too, to prayerfully enter into our own communities, to find those who are hungry and thirsty, who need our help. INITIATION RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS (RCIA) Palm Sunday of the Lord s Passion So begins Holy Week in which we take to hand palm fronds to remember and commemorate the spectacle of Jesus entering into the city of Jerusalem. All hopes and expectations are set in motion and our senses focus on the pageantry, formalities, and prominence of rituals and scripture that begin today. We rise to this celebration with a Gospel Reading, a joyous procession with waving palms and a Sprinkling Rite. We rise again during the Liturgy of the Word to hear a contrasting narrative of the Lord s Passion, knowing that by week s end we will journey again with the Lord from death to life. The Easter Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday hold this promise to the Elect and Candidates who will join the Body of Christ in his dying and rising, becoming one with us and full members of the Church. Their joy will be one with our joy. May this Holy Week deepen and bring about the Lenten conversion: Turn away from sin and believe in the Good News!
