Circuit Writer Millers Creek UMW Millers Creek United Methodist Women Minutes The UMW met on Tuesday, October 4th at 7:00 in the Fellowship Hall of the old church with Mary Edna Faw presiding. Pastor Jacob Kyker provided the opening prayer followed by the reading of the Prayer Calendar by Mary Edna and the passing of the Thankful Jar. We would like to thank everyone for supporting our Rada Cutlery and Butter Braid Pastries sales. Also, your generous donations to our yard sale on October 15 th. Thank you for all of your support in our endeavors. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 1 st in the Fellowship Hall of the old church at 7:00. We welcomed our special guest, Pastor Jacob Kyker, who led our Prayer and Denial program. He pointed out that in 1869 the formation of the UMW began with a group of women who were concerned about the plight of women in India. Today we are still going strong in our missions for women and children. Pastor Jacob emphasized that our challenge was to help those in need by providing ways to empower those we help. Mary Edna reminded everyone of the UMW District meeting which will be on Saturday, November 5 th in Granite Falls, N.C. All ladies of the church are invited to join us.
