Kerns was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Fayette County for Failure to Appear. Kerns was also charged with Interference with Official Acts (simple misdemeanor) after a short foot chase after Kerns attempted to run from a deputy. This arrest was made in the 300 blk W Hayes Street in Hazleton. On Monday, February 02, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Russell James Ciesielski, 18, of Ciesielski was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance Marijuana (serious misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). This arrest was made in the 500 blk Sixth Avenue NW in On Tuesday, February 03, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Christopher James Jelinek, 31, of Oelwein. Jelinek was arrested and charged with three counts of third degree Burglary (class D felony), three counts of third degree Theft (aggravated misdemeanor) and three counts of Trespassing (simple misdemeanor). These charges stemmed from investigations into burglaries at various locations around northern Buchanan County in mid to late 2014. Jelinek was held at the Buchanan County Sheriff s Office. On Tuesday, February 03, 2015 at approximately 4:50 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the 1400 blk 220th Street east of Jesup. According to the investigation, a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer operated by Kenzley Ricklefs of Dunkerton was traveling east on 220th Street when Ricklefs lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the north ditch and rolled onto its driver side. Ricklefs was uninjured in the accident and was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. Damage was estimated at $1,000 to the vehicle. The Buchanan County Sheriff s Office was assisted at the scene by the Jesup Fire Department and Jesup Ambulance Service. On Wednesday, February 04, 2015 at approximately 2:35 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the 2800 blk 130th Street south of Aurora. According to the investigation, a 2006 Dodge Ram operated by Michelle Wilson of Russell Springs, KY, was traveling east on 130th Street when Wilson attempted to pull over along the side of the road to check equipment. The vehicle got too far off the shoulder and a flatbed trailer attached to the vehicle and loaded with cattle gates tipped onto its side in the ditch. No injuries were reported and damage was estimated at $2,000. On Friday, February 06, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Kelsey Renee Hartsoe, A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.

This arrest was made after the Buchanan County Sheriff s Office executed a search warrant in the 1800 blk First Street West in Independence on 11/05/2014. Several items were seized during the search warrant and sent for testing. Lab results received back indicated the presence of Methamphetamine. Hartsoe was held at the Buchanan County Sheriff s Office on a $25,000 bond. On Thursday, February 19, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Eric Dean Zieser, 34, of Hazleton. Zieser was arrested and charged with Driving While License Suspended (simple misdemeanor). Zieser was also cited for Failure to Maintain Control. This arrest was made in the 1300 blk Fontana Blvd following the investigation of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 02/03/2015 near Fairbank Amish Blvd and Otterville Blvd. On Thursday, February 19, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Connie Lanell McNeese, 65, of Maynard. McNeese was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance Methamphetamine (serious misdemeanor). This arrest was made after a deputy stopped to check on a vehicle with a flat tire in the 2000 blk Jamestown Avenue. While checking on the occupants, McNeese was found to be in Possession of Methamphetamine. On Friday, February 20, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Shawn Richard Daniels 32, of Troy Mills. The Iowa State Patrol assisted in this arrest. On Monday, February 23, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested James Emmert Johnson, 65, of Monona. Johnson was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for Probation Violation. This arrest was made in the 700 blk Washburn Avenue in Lamont. The Clayton County Sheriff s Office assisted in this arrest. On Tuesday, February 24, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Adam Dean Nichols, 24, of Hazleton. Nichols was arrested and charged with first degree Burglary (class B felony), second degree Burglary (class C felony), Domestic Abuse Assault (class D felony), Interference with Emergency Communications (simple misdemeanor), fifth degree Criminal Mischief (simple misdemeanor) and two counts of Violation of Protection Order (simple misdemeanor). This arrest was made in the 100 blk Southline Drive in Hazleton following an investigation into two separate incidents that occurred in the 300 blk W Hayes Street in Hazleton. On Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at approximately 8:45 pm, a Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1800 blk 100th Street (Hwy 281) south of Oelwein. The vehicle attempted to elude the deputy westbound on 100th Street and then turned north on R Avenue into Fayette County. The pursuit lasted approximately 30 minutes and reached speeds in upwards of 100 mph. The pursuit ended at 130th Street and P Avenue southwest of Fayette in Fayette County when the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn and entered the ditch. A brief foot chase ensued but Page 4
the driver was apprehended. Herman Lee Ronnfeldt, 49, of Hazleton was taken into custody and transported to the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence for precautionary reasons. Ronnfeldt was arrested on Thursday, March 05, 2015 and charged with Eluding (class D felony), second offense Operating While Intoxicated (aggravated misdemeanor) and Reckless Driving (serious misdemeanor). Ronnfeldt was also issued citations for a Speed Violation, Driving on Wrong Side of Highway and Fail to Carry Proof of Insurance. The Buchanan County Sheriff s Office was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff s Office and the Iowa State Patrol. Ronnfeldt will also face numerous charges in Fayette County related to this incident. On Thursday, February 26, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Jeffrey Allen Keppler, 45, of Aurora. Keppler was arrested and charged with Driving While License Barred (aggravated misdemeanor). Keppler was also cited for Failure to Carry Proof of Insurance. This arrest was made following a traffic accident in the 1400 blk Indiana Avenue southwest of Hazleton. On Thursday, February 26, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Jeffery Allen Coonrad, 24, of Masonville. Coonrad was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for Probation Violation. Coonrad was transported to the Buchanan County Sheriff s Office. The Delaware County Sheriff s Office assisted in this arrest. On Saturday, February 28, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested Gerald Lawrence Hershey, 30, or Oelwein and Jolee Maxine Hershey, 57, of Hazleton. Both were arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass (simple misdemeanor). These arrests were made following an incident in the 100 blk N Third Street in Hazleton. On Saturday, February 28, 2015, Buchanan County Sheriff s Deputies arrested William James Reinhold, 47, of Hazleton.
