The light the heat I am complete I see the doorway to a thousand churches The resolution of all the fruitless searches I see the light and the heat Oh, I want to be that complete I want to touch the light, The heat I see in your eyes, in your eyes, in your eyes, in your eyes Songwriters: Peter Gabriel In Your Eyes lyrics Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC A Call to Worship We gather in this place, some empty, some filled, some whole, some broken: yearning for the Holy Spirit to fill us. We come, with these ordinary people, who have shown us the way: trusting that God will continue to illumine our hearts. Thom Shuman https://re-worship.blogspot.ca/2011/05/call-to-worship-prayer.html Confession and Absolution God of amazing love and unexpected grace, Open our eyes that we may see You especially in those times when we feel abandoned by You; Forgive us that we so easily allow circumstance to blind us to Your Presence. Silence Touch our lives that we may know You especially in those times when we feel unable to cope; Forgive us that we too frequently mistrust Your power. Fill our hearts that we may become like You especially when Your message needs to be heard; Forgive us that we forget who we are: children of God with Your Spirit in us. Copyright John van de Laar 2

Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen. Music Unconditionally (Katy Perry) Oh no, did I get too close oh? Oh, did I almost see what's really on the inside? your insecurities the dirty laundry Never made me blink one time Unconditional, unconditionally I will love you unconditionally There is no fear now Let go and just be free I will love you unconditionally Come just as you are to me Don't need apologies Know that you are all worthy I'll take your bad days with your good Walk through this storm I would I'd do it all because I love you, I love you Unconditional, unconditionally I will love you unconditionally There is no fear now Let go and just be free I will love you unconditionally So open up your heart and just let it begin Open up your heart, and just let it begin Open up your heart, and just let it begin Open up your heart Acceptance is the key to be To be truly free Will you do the same for me? Unconditional, unconditionally I will love you unconditionally And there is no fear now Let go and just be free 'Cause I will love you unconditionally (oh yeah) I will love you 3

I will love you I will love you unconditionally Prayer Almighty God, you kindle this day the light of your Spirit in the hearts of your faithful people; may we by the same Spirit freely work together, and evermore rejoice in your love and power; through Jesus Christ our Saviour, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen. Psalm 33:12-22 : Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. : The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all humankind. : : : : : : : : : : From where he sits enthroned he watches all the inhabitants of the earth he who fashions the hearts of them all, and observes all their deeds. A king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. The war horse is a vain hope for victory, and by its great might it cannot save. Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and shield. Our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen Scripture Reading: Romans 8:22-27 We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labour pains until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 4

(Silent reflection) Meditation on the Word The Apostle Paul tells us that the Spirit of God prays for us with sighs too deep for words. Through the Life-Giving Breath of God, we are given all that we need. Let us breathe deeply inhaling the good gifts that God provides, and exhaling all of the things that we need to release. Let us breathe in strength. (Pause for breath ) And, let us exhale our exhaustion. (Pause for breath ) Let us breathe in freedom. (Pause for breath ) And, let us exhale all that holds us back. (Pause for breath ) Let us breathe in a new sense of direction. (Pause for breath ) And, let us exhale the paths we no longer want to use. (Pause for breath ) Let us breathe in hope. (Pause for breath ) And, let us exhale self-doubt. (Pause for breath ) Let us breathe in unconditional love. (Pause for breath ) And, let us exhale distrust and hate. (Pause for breath ) Holy Spirit, let us feel the mighty rush of your presence in this place. Blow away our fears and worries, and help us to breathe in your gifts of new life. Amen. ~ written by Amy Loving, and posted on The Worship Closet website. http://worshipcloset.com/ Music Love is the Answer (Dan England and John Ford Coley) Name your price A ticket to paradise I can't stay here any more And I've looked high and low I've been from shore to shore to shore If there's a short cut I'd have found it But there is no easy way around it Light of the world, shine on me Love is the answer Shine on us all Set us free Love is the answer Who knows why Someday we all must die We're all homeless boys and girls 5

And we are never heard It's such a lonely world turn their heads And walk on by Tell me is it worth just another try Are we alive Or just a dying planet What are the chances Ask the man in your heart for the answers And when you feel afraid When you've lost your way And when you're all alone And when you're far from home And when you're down and out And when your hopes run out And when you need a friend We got to love one another Songwriters: John Wilcox / Kasim Sulton / Roger Powell / Todd Rundgren Love Is The Answer lyrics Warner/Chappell Music, Inc Prayers Into your hands, O God, I commend my spirit, for you have redeemed me, O God of truth and love. Keep me, O God, as the apple of an eye; hide me under the shadow of your wings. Preserve us, O God, while waking, and guard us while sleeping, that awake we may watch with Christ, and asleep may rest in your peace. Amen. Song of Simeon Nunc Dimittis Praise be to God, I have lived to see this day. God s promise is fulfilled, and my duty done. At last you have given me peace, for I have seen with my own eyes the salvation you have prepared for all nations - 6

a light to the world in its darkness, and the glory of your people Israel. Glory be God, sustaining, redeeming, sanctifying, as in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy. Prayer of Intercession Ever living and ever loving God, We praise you for your loving presence with us. Come, Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit, take and transform our societies that broken people find healing; that lonely people find love; that bitter people find peace; that fearful people find hope. Come, Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit, take our world s leaders and governments and bring renewal that communication can be open; that hostilities between people and nations will evaporate; that a hunger for justice addresses the hunger for food felt by so many. Come, Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit, fill your church that our worship will be ever more pleasing to you; that prayers will change our minds instead of trying to get you to change yours; that our lives will make a real difference to real people in the real world. Come, Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit, fill our lives with your presence so that more and more every day, all that we do and say and hope will be an act of worship to you and an expression of love to others, to the glory of your name. Amen. from the Baptist Union of Great Britain website. http://www.baptist.org.uk/ 7

The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. Prayers I will lie down in peace and take my rest, for it is in God alone that I dwell unafraid. Let us bless the Earth-maker, the Pain-bearer, the Life-giver, let us praise and exalt God above all for ever. May God s name be praised beyond the furthest star, glorified and exalted above all for ever. Be present, Spirit of God, within us, your dwelling place and home, that this house may be one where all darkness is penetrated by your light, all troubles calmed by your peace, all evil redeemed by your love, all pain transformed in your suffering, and all dying glorified in your risen life. Amen. Closing Benediction As you go forth from this place, may the wind of the Spirit startle your senses and blow through your life; may the fire of the Spirit scorch your complacency and light your way. And may the blessing of the Holy One Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer rest with you now and forever more. Amen. ~ written by Joanna Harader, and posted on Spacious Faith. http://spaciousfaith.com/ Postlude I Will Always Love You (Whitney Houston - originally by Dolly Parton) If I should stay I would only be in your way So I'll go but I know I'll think of you every step of the way And I... will always love you, ooh Will always love you You My darling, you... 8
