St. Ann s Parish 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time August 28, 2016 Last week we received a beautiful and unexpected gift for St. Ann s. One of our parishioners noted that, with all the activities that go in in Fr. Anthony Hall and the increased need for multimedia use, we should have a large screen HD TV for the different organizations to use. While I agreed that it would certainly be great to have one, they are expensive and are still a luxury and not a necessity that I can justify on our budget. Well, the next thing you know, he shows up at the rectory with a brand new 65 HD TV as a gift to the parish! He purchased it himself; it was not won in a raffle or anything like that. I asked if I could share his name but he said no; he wants to keep it private. But he did allow me to tell you that it was an anonymous gift. I am so grateful to this generous parishioner for his gift that will serve the many organizations at St. Ann s that use Fr. Anthony Hall. To our generous benefactor: Thank you so much! You rock! May God bless you always! As if this gift was not enough, another parishioner came to me with a second prize for our raffle. As you know, our raffle is a 50/50 this year, and that doesn t permit any second prizes. Well, we now have one! A family in our parish who owns a house in Point Pleasant, NJ, has given us one free week s rental as a prize to add. It is a beautiful looking house with four bedrooms and three baths plus a walk-up fully furnished attic that can accommodate numerous children or young adults. It is 1½ blocks from the beach and walking distance to the local Catholic Church. Again, I am most grateful to this family for their donation. The people of St. Ann s are truly generous! Let s see if we can make this year s raffle a huge success! The Adult and Children s choirs will have their first rehearsals for the Fall on Thursday, September 8, 2016 in the Church. Children 1st grade through 8th grade will meet at 6:30PM; teens and adults of all ages will meet at 7:15PM. New members are welcome! Come see what you can learn about music and have a great time singing with the choir at St. Ann s! Family Day - Be Involved. Stay Involved. Is the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse s national initiative to promote simple acts of parental engagement as key ways to help prevent risky substance use in children and teens. Family Day will be celebrated across the country on September 26, 2016. To learn more about Family Day and to join parents all across America in taking the Family Day STAR PLEDGE, log on to www.casafamilyday.org Adoption - Children in China need homes. More boys available than girls. Older parents and single women welcome. For more information please call Barbara Salvesen at 845-623-5277. Rite of Christian Initiation If you know an adult who has not received any or all their Sacraments (Baptism, Confirmation or Communion) or someone who wants to become a Catholic, please note that classes will be starting soon. This is the first step before entering the RCIA program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults), which is the sacrament preparation program. Please spread the word and help someone make the commitment to Christ. Please call the Rectory to sign up.
