Name Block What is Buddhism? Buddhism is a religion based on the life and teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, known to his followers as. There are more than 360 Buddhists living all over the world, especially in China, Japan and Southeast Asia. Buddhists believe that the Buddha was enlightened or awakened from ignorance after learning the truth about life: That there is suffering in life and that suffering is caused by desire or wanting. The is the moment at which Buddhists believe the Buddha gained wisdom and became free from life's suffering. The Buddha is also called "The Enlightened One." Buddha said that people should avoid. They should not have or do too much, but neither should they have or do too little. The "Middle Way" is the best. The path to Enlightenment is through the practice and development of wisdom, morality, and meditation. Breaking out of the cycle is called. It is the end of everything that is not perfect. It is perfect peace, free of suffering. Nirvana is the state of being where there is no more suffering and no more re-birth. Buddhists strive to achieve this state.

The 8-Fold Path focuses on: : Right view and right thought (1 & 2) : Right speech, right action, and right livelihood (3, 4, & 5) : Right effort, right mindfulness, and right contemplation (6, 7 & 8). is the Buddhist belief in re-birth after death.
