Feb 25 - Andy A., Ashley T. & Jae Paget Deacon: Kate Hoffman A Valentine Remember in elementary school writing Valentines and receiving them from your classmates? I remember in Kindergarten celebrating Valentine s Day like that. Each kid made a Valentine box. We decorated them and put slits in the tops where our classmates could drop in their Valentines to us. In our class, each kid had to bring enough cards to give to everyone in the class. So, at the end of the day, all of our boxes were stuffed full of Valentines. Even though the teacher made us give cards to everyone, it was still a lot of fun to read through all the Valentines we got. It still felt good to know someone had thought about us, even if it was only the length of time it took to sign their name. When Valentine s Day comes this month, remember that God has thought specifically about you, and has sent you a Valentine. And he wasn t forced to do it. In fact, he chose to send you a Valentine before you had any interest in him at all. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atonement for our sins (1 John 4:10). He sent us a Valentine even though we didn t send him one, and his Valentine to us cost him a lot. It wasn t just a 10 cent card. It was his Son and his Son s life. It s pretty incredible to think God loves us that deeply. But even though it s hard to believe, it s true. So, this Valentine s Day, marvel at God s forgiving, unconditional, ever-pursuing love for you in Christ. Then let his love for you spill out to others. Love how you have been loved. 1 John 4:11, the next verse, says, Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. May you experience the depth of God s love for you in Christ, and may that love flow out to everyone in your class (life). Love, Pastor Scott 1

February Mission Focus Mike and Tammy, are EPC missionaries serving in Southeast Asia. They would like prayers for: That we would treasure Jesus above all things; that we would be salt and light among this unreached people group, and that we would give God all the glory. That we will boldly proclaim the name of Jesus and salvation only in his name, and for God s protection from the enemy s attempts to stifle the gospel. That we continue to learn the language so we can communicate eternal truths in the language of the people and in a way that is understandable in their culture. For our growing church planting team to accomplish God s will together with complete unity. New Members Class Are you interested in becoming a member of First Presbyterian?
