The Monthly Newsletter of The Central Florida Metal Detecting Club From The President s Desk By Alan James One of the most important holidays of the year was celebrated on Sunday. I hope everyone in the club had a happy Mother s Day! While you re thinking about Mother s Day, please take a minute to consider those individuals who may not be as fortunate. MAY 2016 and tree limbs, we were doing our best not to step on a snake. After about ninety minutes, one of the team members called for assistance from the Sanford CSI unit. He had located a target buried under several inches of water and mud. When this target was lifted out of the mud and water, it matched the description of the weapon we were searching for to a tee. This is one more success story for the Central Florida Metal Detecting Club and a couple of really bad apples are off the streets, hopefully for a long time. Congratulations to each of the team members for a job well done. This is why we do what we do. Two days ago, the Central Florida Metal Detecting Club Search Team helped one mother put a small amount of closure in place for the loss of her daughter. A little over a week earlier a brutal stabbing took the life of her 28 year old daughter at an apartment complex in Sanford. The Sanford police department contacted us and asked for our help in the search for this murder weapon. We quickly agreed to help and a small CFMDC search team was tasked to search near the apartment complex. The search lanes were flagged and the team went to work. Working this search area involved each member of the team fighting their way through extremely heavy undergrowth and then wading off into swamp water and knee deep mud. To say the least, this was a challenging search area. When we weren t fighting vines We will have a club hunt on Saturday May 21. This hunt will take place at Sylvan Lake Park, 845 Lake Markham Rd. Sanford, FL 32771. Start time and other details will be discussed at the meeting. The CFMDC hosted over 150 participants at our 4 th Annual Sunshine Shootout & Relic Hunt at Moss Park. By all accounts, it was a huge success and I want to thank everyone that helped in any way. We couldn t do it without you. Next year s Shootout is already scheduled for April 1, 2017. And the fun begins again!! See you at the next meeting. Alan
