Lesson 3: The Creation Lesson 3: The Creation, Primary 6: Old Testament, (1996),9

Purpose To increase your appreciation for the earth that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ created for us. Lesson 3: The Creation, Primary 6: Old Testament, (1996),9

I need someone to shake out what I have in this bag onto the table. Try to dump the pieces onto the table so that all of the pieces fall into place to form a complete picture. A puzzle cannot fall into place by chance it requires an intelligent being to organize the pieces and carefully put them together.

The Creation Of The Earth Was Carefully Planned The earth has to be the right distance from the sun or everything on it would burn or freeze. Without the right amount of oxygen, humans and animals could not breathe. If there was too little gravity, we would float off the earth.

The Earth Did Not Come About By Accident Or Chance A loving Heavenly Father directed Jesus Christ to organize this beautiful earth for us.

The Creation I m going to give each of you a scripture to look up for each of the seven periods of the creation. Read your scripture to yourself and illustrate a picture of what was created on that day without telling anyone what it is. You have five minutes to read and illustrate. Enrichment Activity 1

The Creation When you are done, your classmates will guess what you drew. Read the part of your scripture your drawing is of. Your classmates will follow along in their scriptures. Let s tape them up on the wall in order! Enrichment Activity 1

The Creation What do you remember about the days of the creation?

Go to the Video Go to the Narrated Slide Go to Ericka s Slides Continue

Who Created The Earth? Let s read Moses 1:33 Moses 2:1 The earth was created by Jesus Christ under the direction of Heavenly Father.

Why Did Heavenly Father Want The Earth To Be Created? Let s read Abraham 3:24 26

Why are there so many wonderful types of plants on Let s read Genesis 1:29 30 D&C 59:18 19 the earth? What plants do you most enjoy? What do you use them for?

What is in each fruit? Let s read Genesis 1:12 or Moses 2:12

Why Are Seeds Important? Seeds are very important for growing fruits, vegetables, plants and trees. God planned from the beginning for the plants to produce more of their own kind. Enrichment Activity 6

Let s read Genesis 1:22 or Moses 2:22

What commandment did God give Adam and Eve (and all people) about having a family? Let s read Genesis 1:28 or Moses 2:28

In whose image were we created? Let s read Genesis 1:27 or Moses 2:27

What is our responsibility to the earth and all living things on it? Let s read Genesis 1:26 or Moses 2:26 Dominion means to have power over something.

How Can We Take Care Of The Creations We Have Been Given? Some ideas are: being kind to animals taking care of a garden keeping parks and buildings free from litter Obeying the Word of Wisdom Tell one way you will take care of the wonderful things Heavenly Father has given us. Enrichment Activity 5

What did God say about his creations? Let s read Genesis 1:31 or Moses 2:31 How should we feel about the good things we make or do?

What did God do on the seventh day? Let s read Genesis 2:2 3 or Moses 3:2 3 What should we do on the Sabbath day?

Now we get to decorate the big paper circle on the wall. You each get to create one of your favorite things found on the earth. You have about five minutes to make your creation, cut it out and attach it to the paper earth. Time to draw! Enrichment Activity 3

The word create means to organize, not to make something from nothing. This statement is from Joseph Smith when he was speaking about the creation of the earth: Now, the word create came from the word baurau, which does not mean to create out of nothing; it means to organize; the same as a man would organize materials and build a ship (History of the Church, 6:308). Enrichment Activity 3

What do you think is in this container? It s salt How many particles of salt you think there are in the container? I need a volunteer to take a pinch of salt and try to count how many particles there are. Enrichment Activity 4

God has created many more worlds than there are particles of salt in the container or even on the whole earth. Many of these worlds have been inhabited or will be inhabited by people who have been created in the image of God, just as we have, yet Heavenly Father knows and loves us all. Let s read Moses 7:29 30 Enrichment Activity 4

My Heavenly Father Loves Me 1. Whenever I hear the song of a bird Or look at the blue, blue sky, Whenever I feel the rain on my face Or the wind as it rushes by, Whenever I touch a velvet rose Or walk by our lilac tree, I m glad that I live in this beautiful world Heav nly Father created for me. 2. He gave me my eyes that I might see The color of butterfly wings. He gave me my ears that I might hear The magical sound of things. He gave me my life, my mind, my heart: I thank him rev rently For all his creations, of which I m a part. Yes, I know Heav nly Father loves me. Words and music: Clara W. McMaster, 1904 1997. 1961 IRI. Arr. 1989 IRI Enrichment Activity 7

I am thinking of something I saw on the way to church that reminded me of how much Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us. I ll give you some clues and you try to guess what it was. Enrichment Activity 2

Now it s your turn! You each get to take a turn giving clues about something you saw that reminds you of the love Heavenly Father and Jesus have for us. The first article of faith and the evidence we see in nature can strengthen our testimonies of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Enrichment Activity 2

The First Article of Faith We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. Enrichment Activity 2

Each of us is one of Heavenly Father s greatest creations. I am grateful to be your teacher and to have each of you as a member of this class.

When I look around at the beautiful earth we have to live in, I have no doubt that it was created for us by Jesus Christ under the direction of our loving Heavenly Father. It helps me feel close to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ when I see and think about His beautiful creations.

It was time to make the earth. Heavenly Father Chose Jesus Christ to make it. He told Jesus how to make it. Jesus made the earth in six days.

The days were much longer than our days. The first day Jesus made the light. He called it day. He made the dark. He called it night.

The second day Jesus divided the water. Some water was on earth. Some water was in the clouds in the sky.

The third day Jesus made dry land. He made the grass and the trees grow. He made all the plants grow.

The fourth day Jesus made the sun. He made the moon and the stars.

The fifth day Jesus put fish in the water. He also made the birds.

The sixth day Jesus made all the other animals. He made cows and horses and dogs. He made deer and lions and tigers

God and Jesus made a man. He was the first man on earth. His name was Adam. Adam Looked like God and Jesus. Adam lived in a beautiful garden. It was called the Garden of Eden.

Adam was alone in the garden. So God and Jesus made a woman. Her name was Eve. She was Adam s wife.

God and Jesus told Adam and Eve to take care of the garden. They told them to have children.

God and Jesus looked at all they had made. It was good. On the seventh day they rested.
