From Pastor Joyce: I do hope you will attend the Holy Week Services listed below we may be tempted to avoid the sadness and suffering we find in these services, but by doing so we diminish for ourselves the impact of the resurrection. There is no way to avoid the cross in favor of the crown. We do an injustice to ourselves and the Good News of the Gospel if we go from the Yay, hurray Jesus is coming on Palm Sunday and skip the intimacy of the Last Supper on Thursday and the pain of the crucifixion on Friday and go directly to the Yay, hurray Jesus is Risen! By traveling the full breadth of Jesus sacrifice, suffering and death we can more fully appreciate the wonder of his resurrection and acknowledge through our belief in him as the Messiah, the Son of God we are given the promise of resurrection and eternal life. There is an inspirational song by Avery and Marsh called Every Morning Is Easter Morning. It captures the truth that Christians are an Easter People. We are a new creation and meet each new day in the power of our Living Lord, Jesus Christ. Resurrection is more than an event in the long ago and the far away; it becomes a present experience in the heart of the believer that transforms all of life. You can almost feel the joy and the throb of new life as you read the words: Ev ry morning is Easter morning from now on! Ev ry day s resurrection day, the past is over and gone! Goodbye guilt, goodbye fear, good riddance! Hello Lord, hello sun! I am one of the Easter People! My new life has begun! Daily news is so bad, it seems the Good News seldom gets heard. Get it straight from the Easter People: God s in charge! Spread the word! Ev ry morning is Easter morning from now on! Yesterday I was bored and lonely; but today look and see! I belong to the Easter People! Life s exciting to me! Blessings and See You in Church! Pastor Joyce <><

High Chairs & Booster Seats Needed Our Java & Jesus meal & worship has multiple babies & toddlers and we only have 1 high chair at church. Do you have an extra high chair or booster seat around your house or know of one that someone might want to donate? We could sure use them to make our littlest guests more comfortable. Keys, Keys, Who Has a Key?????? The Trustees would appreciate the return of church keys that are not being used or if you have one from when you were the Chair of a committee, but are no longer it would be best to return it. We currently don t have any extra keys, but realize there are many keys out there. So to save the church the time and finances to make more keys please consider returning yours to the office. Many thanks. All Church Spring Clean-Up Day Saturday April 11 th 9:00 am 12:00 pm Projects to do inside & outside the church Please bring your own supplies for whatever cleaning you would like to do. Place your receipts and codes in the labeled box on the counter in the gathering space that s all you have to do. We have earned more than $1500 dollars through this program! Workshop Opportunity: Radical Hospitality Saturday April 25, 2015 10a.m. - 4 p.m. Minnetonka UMC 17611 Lake Street Extension Minnetonka, MN 55345 Within the first five minutes of their initial visit to a church, guests make up their minds about whether to return. The question is, when does that five minutes actually start? Is it when they peruse a church s website? Or is it the first five minutes of worship? What are the most critical components when it comes to welcoming newcomers using everything from the website to the beginning of the worship service? Participants will leave with a couple options for orders of worship services, materials for improving first impressions, and a plan for creating a system for keeping hospitality at the forefront of worship development. We ll carpool from Milaca UMC. Please let Pastor Joyce know if you re interested in attending with her as most of the Missional Journey Team are unable to attend due to other commitments that same day.

It s Coming!!! The first official meeting of the 2015 VBS program - Hometown Nazareth (Where Jesus was a Kid) will be on Saturday, April 11th at 9:00 a.m. This meeting is very important because we will be viewing a DVD previewing this new VBS program, which is different from all of the previous programs. If you are interested in assisting with VBS this coming year (June 8 th -12th) PLEASE attend this meeting. Caring, Sharing & Concerns Happy Easter! Happy Spring! Souper Bowl Sunday brought in $118.00 and over 100 cans of soup for the Milaca Food Pantry. Thank You for your generous donations! If interested in helping with the quilt for the Cookie Walk please speak with Delores Quam. Quilting Circle meets every Wednesday from 1-4 in the afternoon. Our next meeting will be April 26th after service. We will be planning a summer activity. All are welcome. Got here first In Pennsylvania Dear GHF: If you re sitting in God s house, you should be on your best behavior. Don t commit a sin of omission; be an angel and shove over. Pastor Joyce s Thoughts: If you re the church member and a guest is sitting in your usual spot be gracious and let them sit there or if there is room, join them and greet them. After service invite them with you to fellowship time. This is how we help people feel welcome in God s house.

Happy Easter everyone! Hopefully spring is here to stay but in Minnesota anything can happen. We started out March with our monthly Christian Women brunch on Tuesday, March 10 th. There were 62 ladies present and they enjoyed a brunch of caramel apple cinnamon French toast, sausage patty and banana. It was very good and we had lots compliments. The Wednesday Soup Luncheon was on March 18 th and we had about 50 people attend. It was the largest group of all the Lenten Soup Luncheons. Thank you to all who attended from our congregation. The proceeds were $180 and we put in enough from our treasury to make it $200 from the UMW for the Food Shelf. The installation of the dishwasher booster was approved. Jeanette will contact Jensen Anderson to install it. Our 2013 Salad Luncheon proceeds will be used plus the 2014 proceeds if needed. We will accept any donations to help with the cost of it. We should be hearing from the company that will be cleaning the stove exhaust fan. The weather is getting warm enough for them to do it. If we don t hear from them soon we will be contacting them again. Joyce Stobb purchased 16 new books for the library with the remaining money from past book sales. They are in the magazine rack by Pastor Joyce s office. Please feel free to take them out to read. The UMW will be sending the church s donation of $300 to Emma Norton s. It is our member donation as per last year. The money will be from the UPC codes and Teal receipts money, which is from the congregation s sharing them. The Sunday School has been collecting money in their classes on Sunday for the Heifer Project to purchase an animal for foreign poverty areas. We are matching their amount of $100. Peggy and Caroline will be delivering Easter baskets to the bars and other businesses again as they did for Christmas. Big Waters District Spring Gathering will be on Saturday, April 25 th at Princeton UMC from 9:00am-3:00pm. Early registration is to be in by April 20 th. The cost is $8.00 for early registration and $9.00 for walk ins. Everyone is welcome to come to this, as you don t have to be a UMW member to attend. It is a spiritual and learning day. Bring paper products and personal care products for Emma Norton to the meeting. We will car pool from church. The High Tea will be Wednesday, April 29 th at 3:00-5:00pm. The committee will be meeting on April 1 st to make the plans. More info will be posted in church. I would like to thank all the people that served coffee at Elim the Sundays in March. Thank you so much for volunteering for this service.
