Hello! Brand new information ~ Trick or Treaters will be out this weekend Please watch out for the little (or big) beggars. A list of community and times is at the end of the newsletter. Fr. Rob is returning from his sabbatical the First Sunday of Advent (December 3 rd ). He would like to encourage everyone to join him at mass on the day of his return. Fr. Rob would also like your ideas on topics of interest or discovery for the Lenten Series. You re welcome to send those ideas to the office. I ll forward them all at once to Fr. Rob. Michelle and Lee Dayton are inviting the parish to join them for a Happy Epiphany Day party on January 6 th, 2018. The Vestry discussed the possibility of a parish Christmas party but with so many things occurring in December, Michelle offered to host the event in January. More details will be coming! This will be a family event, Michelle states that they have a play room! A Big Thank You to Gary Lanoux for fixing the steps of St. James House! The side of the steps had lost a large piece which has been fixed. The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to ring the bells. If you are interested in forming a group to volunteer, please let me know and I ll pass the needed information on to you. We have received a thank you from the Abood Family. Thank you for your prayers and support. Mother Kitty will be celebrating a Thanksgiving Eve Mass on November 22 nd at 5:30. She is requesting that you would bring a donated food item to be used by the Friendship Dinner. A list of suggested items will be forth coming. A copy of the Vestry Minutes from September s meeting will accompany this newsletter. Don t forget ~ All Faithful Departed/All Souls Mass will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 2 nd. Fr. Morris will be celebrating All Saints on November 1 at 5:30. The All Saints Necrology will be read during the mass on Sunday November 5 when All Saints will again be celebrated.

Friendship Dinner - Our next Friendship Dinner is scheduled for October 28. A sign up sheet for volunteering to serve is on the bulletin board in the undercroft. Please volunteer for our outreach program. Dates to remember ~ All Saints necrology need to be in next Sunday (29 th ) Next adult forum class is being held on October 29 th at 9 a.m. Stewardship pledges should be returned by November 5 th. Vestry nominations are due in by November 12 th. Pat Rush will be off the week of the 23 rd as he will be taking a well-deserved golf vacation. The following classes will then be held on the 2 nd Sundays of each month: Nov. 12; Dec. 10 and into the next year until we finish the book. All are welcomed to join in the conversation even if not having read the book. If you want a copy of each lesson s notes for further reference & study, please let me know. Barbara Saunders Our Friendship Dinner Committee is again collecting items for distribution at the November 25 th Friendship Dinner. The items requested are men s gloves, children s mittens and socks for all ages. Ornaments are also needed to decorate our Christmas Tree. Please leave your donations in the Undercroft by November 19 th. Your donations are appreciated.

Fr. Rob Willmann is on sabbatical. He will be returning on December 1 st. During this time both Fr. Morris and Mother Clausen will be available for your spiritual needs. Sr. Warden Evan Abood and Mindy Rush will also be available for other matters. Community ~ Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds 2017-2018 Season: Concerts are held in Brown Chapel on the Muskingum University Campus. Concert Tickets are available at the door. Adults $7.00, Youth ages 5-18 - $5.00. Children under age 5 are free. The first concert is Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 3:00 pm. Hail Britannia! is a concert featuring British band classics and other works from across the pond. The featured soloist will be Muskingum trombone instructor, Lucas Kaspar. Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra: November 19 Brown Chapel 7:00 p.m. Best of Baroque (with some modern, too) Handel s Messiah with the Muskingum University choirs and Coral Society. Violin favorites with the Maestra. November 30 Secrest Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Annual traditional and FUN! Holiday Concert. Zanesville Community Theatre, Inc: In-Laws, Outlaws, and Other People (That Should Be Shot). A comedy that is relatable to anyone with a dysfunctional, but loving family, anywhere. Show dates are October 27 through November 5 th. Auditions for Evita (musical) are November 12-13, 2017 at 7 pm Immanuel Church, 105 South 7 th Street will be holding its Annual Sauerkraut Luncheon on Thursday, October 26 from 11 to 1. Tickets are $9.00 and advance sales only. For ticket information call their church office at 740-454-1294. The Vestry minutes and Trick or Treat schedules follow ~

The Vestry Meeting Wednesday, September 20, 2017 St. James House Present: Susan Benson, Eric Blake, Michelle Dayton, Sherry Gillespie, Tim Linn, Barbara Saunders, Kathy Shesky, Martha Staley, Bob Welsh and Jane Ellen Wiles. Others in attendance: Eleanor Bailey, Treasurer, Mindy Rush, Recorder, Lee Donoho, guest and Susan Riis, guest. Absent: Evan Abood and Father Rob Willmann Approval of Agenda: Eric Blake made a motion to accept the agenda as written. Sherry Gillespie seconded the motion. Motion was carried. Approval of Minutes: Susan Benson made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Michelle Dayton seconded the motion. Motion was carried. Rector s Report: The Rector is currently on sabbatical The Senior Warden s Report: The Senior Warden was not present The Junior Warden s Report: Barbara Saunders oral Junior Warden Report consisted of: 1. The air conditioning unit is making noises 2. Tim Linn has not had a chance to review the north hallway. 3. Replacement of the outside elevator sign. Mindy Rush will follow up on this. The Treasurer s Report: Treasurer Eleanor Bailey s written report consisted of: 1. We are doing well financially with expenses being in line 2. We need to look at closing the old credit cards and opening another method of monetary operation. It was decided to keep the debit card that had been ordered and that Eleanor Bailey will continue to look at local banking credit cards. Bob Welsh made a motion to accept the Treasurer s report. Susan Benson seconded the motion. Motion carried. Administrator s Report: Mindy Rush s oral report consisted of these points: 1. William Henderson has 4 plots at Memorial Park that he would like to donate to St. James

Michelle Dayton made a motion to accept these plots. Tim Linn seconded the motion. Motion carried 2. A motion is needed to cover additional Blue Mass expenses ($504.65 to date) Bob Welsh made a motion to cover the remaining Blue Mass expenses using Geyer Outreach funds. Michelle Dayton seconded the motion. Motion carried. 3. Jeff Lanning made a personal request of assistance from St. James. Michelle Dayton made a motion to grant this request using Geyer funds. Eric Blake seconded the motion. Motion carried 4. Tyson Kumorowski requested to borrow (if one is available) an Anglican/Episcopal Flag. It was determined that there was not an extra flag and in keeping with the no items are to leave the building policy, the Vestry determined it could not loan it anyway. 5. Continued Existence forms have been filed with the State of Ohio 6. Records have been digitally archived. Binding research should occur, Mindy Rush will continue research on binding and costs. Committee Reports: No committee reports Old Business: New Business: Janet Stewart sent via Eleanor Bailey each Vestry member a request that she be permitted to purchase the teapots she requested to borrow last month. She would pay $5.00 per pot. The Vestry decided not to sell the teapots as they were a gift to the Parish. Lee Donoho submitted the Endorsement of the Application for Postulancy by the Vestry/Mission Council. Eric Blake made a motion to endorse Michelle Dayton s application. Barbara Saunders seconded the motion. The Vestry voted unanimously to support this application. Bob Welsh made a motion to adjourn. Barbara Saunders seconded the motion. This motion carried.
