HYMN Lord Jesus, Think on Me LSB 610 Lord Jesus, think on me And purge away my sin; From worldly passions set me free And make me pure within. Lord Jesus, think on me, By anxious thoughts oppressed; Let me Your loving servant be And taste Your promised rest. Lord Jesus, think on me Amid the battle s strife; In all my pain and misery, O be my health and life! Lord Jesus, think on me Nor let me go astray; Through darkness and perplexity Point out Your chosen way. Lord Jesus, think on me That, when this life is past, I may the_eternal brightness see And share Your joy at last. THE PASSION ACCOUNT ACCORDING TO ST. MARK Mark 15 And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate. And Pilate asked him, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answered him, You have said so. And the chief priests accused him of many things. And Pilate again asked him, Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you. But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed. Now at the feast he used to release for them one prisoner for whom they asked. And among the rebels in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrection, there was a man called Barabbas. And the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to do as he usually did for them. And he answered them, saying, Do you want me to 5

release for you the King of the Jews? For he perceived that it was out of envy that the chief priests had delivered him up. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release for them Barabbas instead. And Pilate again said to them, Then what shall I do with the man you call the King of the Jews? And they cried out again, Crucify him. And Pilate said to them, Why, what evil has he done? But they shouted all the more, Crucify him. So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. And the soldiers led him away inside the palace (that is, the governor s headquarters), and they called together the whole battalion. And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. And they began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! And they were striking his head with a reed and spitting on him and kneeling down in homage to him. And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. And they led him out to crucify him. P This is the Word of our Lord. C Thanks be to God. P In many and various ways God spoke to His people of old by the prophets. C But now in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son. HYMN In the Hour of Trial by James Montgomery In the hour of trial, Jesus, plead for me Lest by base denial I depart from thee. When thou see st me waver, With a look recall Nor for fear or favor Suffer me to fall. 6

With forbidden pleasures Should this vain world charm Or its tempting treasures Spread to work me harm, Bring to my remembrance Sad Gethsemane Or, in darker semblance, Cross-crowned Calvary. Should thy mercy send me Sorrow, toil, and woe, Or should pain attend me On my path below, Grant that I may never Fail thy hand to see; Grant that I may ever Cast my care on thee. When my last hour cometh, Fraught with strife and pain, When my dust returneth To the dust again, On thy truth relying, Through that mortal strife, Jesus, take me, dying, To eternal life. THE MESSAGE The Sound of the Crowing Rooster By Pastor David Brandt Luke 22:60 And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times. And he went out and wept bitterly. OFFERING (Please stand) 7
