(3) Hymn of Praise Now the Feast and Celebration Hymn No. 167 Sung by all Cantor or Choir 1 Now is the feast of the Lamb once slain, whose blood has freed and united us to be one great people of God. Refrain 2 Power and riches, wisdom and might, all honor and glory to Christ forever. Refrain 3 For God has come to dwell with us, to make us people of God; to make all things new. Refrain

(4) Prayer of the Day (Together) God of mercy, we no longer look for Jesus among the dead, for he is alive and has become the Lord of life. Increase in our minds and hearts the risen life we share with Christ, and help us to grow as your people toward the fullness of eternal life with you, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Children s Sermon (9:15 am) Choir Anthem "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" arr. Wolf (9:15) WORD The Lesson Isaiah 65:17-25 17 For I am about to create new heavens and a new earth; the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I am creating; for I am about to create Jerusalem as a joy, and its people as a delight. 19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and delight in my people; no more shall the sound of weeping be heard in it, or the cry of distress. 20 No more shall there be in it an infant that lives but a few days, or an old person who does not live out a lifetime; for one who dies at a hundred years will be considered a youth, and one who falls short of a hundred will be considered accursed. 21 They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They shall not labor in vain, or bear children for calamity; for they shall be offspring blessed by the LORD and their descendants as well. 24 Before they call I will answer, while they are yet speaking I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox; but the serpent its food shall be dust! They shall not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain, says the LORD. (After the reading:) The word of the Lord. R/ Thanks be to God. Gospel Acclamation Page 188 Alleluia. Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the worlds of eternal life. Alleluia. Alleluia, Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia, Alleluia. Holy Gospel Luke 24:1-12 (Spoken after the announcement) R/ Glory to you, O Lord. But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, the women came to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in, they did not find the body. 4 While they were perplexed about this, (Continues on Next Page)

(5) suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. 5 The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. 6 Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again." 8 Then they remembered his words, 9 and returning from the tomb, they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now it was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told this to the apostles. 11 But these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. 12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; then he went home, amazed at what had happened. (Spoken after the reading) R/ Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon Why Do You Look for the Living Among the Dead? Pastor Krista Zimmerman Hymn of the Day Now All the Vault of Heaven Resounds Hymn No. 367 1) Now all the vault of heav'n resounds in praise of love that still abounds: "Christ has triumphed! He is living!" Sing, choirs of angels, loud and clear! Repeat their song of glory here: "Christ has triumphed! He is living!" Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! 2) Eternal is the gift he brings, therefore our heart with rapture sings: "Christ has triumphed! He is living!" Now still he comes to give us life and by his presence stills all strife. "Christ has triumphed! He is living!" Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! 3) Oh, fill us, Lord, with dauntless love; set heart and will on things above that we conquer through your triumph; grant grace sufficient for life's day that by our lives we truly say: "Christ has triumphed! He is living!" Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! 4) Adoring praises now we bring and with the heav'nly blessed sing: "Christ has triumphed! Alleluia!" Be to the Father, and our Lord, to Spirit blest, most holy God, all the glory, never ending! Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Nicene Creed (6) (Together) We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Prayers of Intercession Confident that the resurrection of Christ has defeated sin and death, we offer our prayers for the church, the world, and all people in need. Holy God, you raise up leaders in your church who preach salvation through the death and resurrection of Christ. Inspire us to go and tell this good news throughout the world. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Holy God, you make yourself known in your creation: in mountains and valleys, in plants and animals, and in those who care for what you have made. Lead us and all your creatures to proclaim that this is the day that the Lord has made. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Holy God, you desire that all people live in peace. Guide all in authority at the local, state, national, and international levels, that they show no partiality in their care and concern. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Holy God, you wipe away the tears of all who cry to you in distress. Console those who are afraid, protect those who are persecuted, bring healing to all who suffer in mind, body, or spirit, and comfort those who mourn. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Holy God, you choose us to be witnesses to your love. Bless visitors among us today, those celebrating Easter with family and friends, and those who travel during this holiday time. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Holy God, you have swallowed up death forever through the resurrection of your Son. Make us confident that we will feast at your heavenly banquet with those who have died and are now at rest. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

(7) Holy God, by the death and resurrection of your Son, you have granted new life, abundant renewal, and salvation. Hear our prayers for the sake of the one who has set us free, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Peace The peace of the Lord be with you always. R/ And also with you. MEAL Bell Offertory "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" arr. Sandra Eithun Offering Offering Prayer (Together) Blessed are you, O God, ruler of heaven and earth. Day by day you shower us with blessings. As you have raised us to new life in Christ, give us glad and generous hearts, ready to praise you and to respond to those in need, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. Great Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. R/ And also with you. Lift up your hearts. R/ We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. R/ It is right to give our thanks and praise.

(8) It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, we praise your name and join their unending hymn: Eucharistic Prayer Holy, living, and loving God For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. The acclamation will be sung first by the presiding minister, and then repeated by all. Through him all glory is yours Almighty Father, with the Holy Spirit, in your holy Church, both now and forever.

(9) Lord s Prayer (Together) Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Invitation This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia. All are welcome. Lamb of God Page 191 Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; grant us peace, grant us peace, Lamb of God. Distribution We invite all baptized Christians and visitors of all denominations, even the youngest, to the table of the Lord. Children who desire a blessing rather than receiving the bread and the wine should stand with folded hands to indicate their preference. Please follow the ushers directions to one of several communion stations in the sanctuary. If you need to have the sacrament brought to your pew, please inform an usher. Receive the wine or indicate a preference for grape juice by asking the server or pointing to the center of the tray. Distribution Hymn Now the Green Blade Rises Hymn No. 379 1 Now the green blade rises from the buried grain, wheat that in dark earth many days has lain; love lives again, that with the dead has been; love is come again like wheat arising green. 2 In the grave they laid him, love by hatred slain, thinking that he would never wake again; laid in the earth like grain that sleeps unseen; love is come again like wheat arising green. 3 Forth he came at Easter, like the risen grain, he that for three days in the grave had lain; raised from the dead, my living Lord is seen; love is come again like wheat arising green. 4 When our hearts are wintry, grieving, or in pain, your touch can call us back to life again, fields of our hearts that dead and bare have been; love is come again like wheat arising green.

(10) Distribution Hymn Taste and See Hymn No. 493 (9:15 am) Congregation sings refrain Choir sings versus Refrain: Taste and see, taste and see the goodness of the Lord. Oh, taste and see, taste and see the goodness of the Lord, of the Lord. Distribution Hymn You Satisfy the Hungry Heart Hymn No. 484 Refrain: You satisfy the hungry heart with gift of finest wheat. Come give to us, O saving Lord, the bread of life to eat. 1 As when the shepherd calls his sheep, they know and heed his voice; so when you call your fam ly, Lord, we follow and rejoice. Refrain 2 With joyful lips we sing to you our praise and gratitude that you should count us worthy, Lord, to share this heav nly food. Refrain 3 Is not the cup we bless and share the blood of Christ outpoured? Do not one cup, one loaf, declare our oneness in the Lord? Refrain 4 The myst ry of your presence, Lord, no mortal tongue can tell: whom all the world cannot contain comes in our hearts to dwell. Refrain 5 You give yourself to us, O Lord; then selfless let us be, to serve each other in your name in truth and charity. Refrain Blessing The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you and keep you in his grace. R/ Amen.

(11) Prayer after Communion (Together) Life-giving God, we give you thanks for nourishing us with the bread of heaven and the wine of love, Jesus our risen Savior. As you send us into the world, guard us from the power of evil, keep us in unity with all your people, and by your Spirit move us to testify to your grace in our words and actions; through Christ our Lord. Amen. SENDING Benediction Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, bless you now and forever. R/ Amen. Sending Hymn Thine is the Glory Hymn No. 376 1 Thine is the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son; endless is the vict'ry thou o'er death hast won! Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, kept the folded grave-clothes where thy body lay. Refrain: Thine is the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son; endless is the vict'ry thou o'er death hast won! 2 Lo, Jesus meets thee, risen from the tomb! Lovingly he greets thee, scatters fear and gloom; let his church with gladness hymns of triumph sing, for the Lord now liveth; death hath lost its sting! Refrain 3 No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life; life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife; make us more than conqu'rors, through thy deathless love; bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above. Refrain

(12) Dismissal Go in peace. Share the good news. R/ Thanks be to God. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Postlude "Allegro" from Organ Concerto in F T. Albinoni On this day the Lord has acted! On the first day of the week God began creation, transforming darkness into light. On this, the "eighth day" of the week, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. We celebrate this new creation in the waters of baptism and in the feast of victory. With great joy we celebrate this day of days, even as we begin the great fifty days of Easter. Filled with hope, we go forth to share the news that Christ is risen! The nursery is not available during the 7:00 a.m. sunrise service. Please use our cry room if your child is having difficulty this morning. Our Lenten offering this year is going to the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and Harmony Club. Harmony Club was formerly operated through Lincoln Lutheran but now they are becoming their own non-profit organization. Thank you for your support of these two important organizations!
