Welcome to the 2014 Junior Workbook What is the purpose of this book? This workbook will help you begin studying the book of Revelation so that you understand what is happening in John s visions. This will prepare you for your classes during the week of Kids Camp What if I don t understand something? Don t worry, no one can understand everything their first time through - the goal is to learn Try rereading the passage or using another version of the Bible. If you are still stuck, ask your parents or aunts & uncles What do I do when I m finished? When you are finished, go back and make sure everything is written neatly & answered thoroughly. Once you are sure you have done your best work, have your parents sign the cover. How do I turn in my workbook? Bring your workbook to camp and turn it into your counselor. There will be a prize awarded at camp for the best workbook California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 b

Gather Your Resources The King James Version of the Bible You may find it helpful to have other versions available as Strong s Concordance This one can be a bit tricky to use so be sure to follow these steps & ask for help 1. Look up the word in the main concordance (the front section) just like you would in a regular dictionary. 2.Use the location of the word in the Bible to link it up to the Strong s number in the main concordance. 3. Use the number to look up the reference in the Hebrew dictionary which is found behind the main concordance. 4. You may also search for where the words are found by looking up the word in the main concordance and looking at all the different occurrences Bible Dictionary Use this just like a regular dictionary or encyclopedia. All you have to do is look up the subject - everything is listed in alphabetical order Revelation Study Guide by Michael Ashton Dictionary Just a regular dictionry to help you understand what the words mean California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 c

Before You Begin... Plan You should be able to complete the workbook with time to spare by working on it for about 20 minutes per day. To figure out how many pages to do per day, divide the number of pages in the book by the number of days before camp. # of pages in the book # of days before camp Line 1 Line 2 Use this information to fill in the goal chart on the next page so to keep track of what you need to accomplish each week. It may be helpful to go over your goals with your parents so they can help keep you on track Don t forget to allow yourself time to work on your project as well Some Friendly Reminders Don t forget, you MUST complete the workbook before you come to camp so don t procrastinate Don t panic While this workbook may look longer than it has in the past, there is about the same amount of work. The difference is that there is just lot more commentary to help you understand the book of Revelation Helpful Hints Don t forget to pray to God before you begin, asking for an open mind and heart so that you can understand what you are studying. Use a PENCIL so that it is easier to correct mistakes. Read, Re-read & ask questions so that you understand the passage. Read everything in the workbook. Some questions may be easier to answer if you have read the information given to you in the book. Ask someone if you get stuck. You can always call or e-mail us (Uncle Jonathan & Aunt Tiffany Wisniewski) if you need to. You can reach us at tiffanywisniewski@gmail.com or (805) 732-7078. Make sure you let us know you are calling about the workbook and don t forget to leave a call back number when you leave a message California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 d

Junior Project All of the Junior Kids Camp students are required to complete an individual project that will be turned into your counselor when you arrive at camp so that it can be displayed in the Main Hall. Please choose 1 of the following projects: Option 1: Create a timeline for the book of Revelation using the dates given in this workbook. Please include: Chapter & Verse Category (e.g. 1st Seal) Time Period Key events (if given) Option 2: Create a poster of your favorite Kingdom vision from Revelation. Please label which vision it is & the various parts of the vision. Option 3: Write a 1 page paper about your own vision of the Kingdom. Some things you might want to include: People you are excited to meet Activities that you would like to be involved in California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 f

Some Final Tips It s always best to have an organized method to doing any kind of study. We suggest starting with a prayer and using the following symbols as a guide to your study Read the passage completely, without stopping. Learn the passage by carefully reading it in small sections. Most of the questions in this workbook can be answered by following the first two steps. However, some will require a little more work Look into It Investigate what you have read by looking up the meanings of names and places as well as other instances in the Bible that may help you understand what you have read. Mark it This means to mark something in your Bible so that you can remember it later You will be given all the information - all you need to do is to copy it into your Bible using your Bible marking tools Think About It These questions require some extra thought about the passage to help you find the lessons that God is trying to teach us through the characters in the story. The Introduction to Revelation Revelation 1:1-11 1. The Greek word for Revelation means revealing truth & instruction about things that were previously hidden. Mark this in your Bible. Reference: Revelation 1:1 Marginal Note: Revelation: revealing truth & instruction about things that were previously hidden 2. Who was originally given the Revelation & by whom was it given? 3. What was the Revelation to show? 4. How did John become aware of the Revelation? 5. The word signified means to give a sign. Mark this in your Bible. Reference: Revelation 1:1 Revelation is a book of signs and symbols, which you will see as you progress through this workbook. The Bible insert on the previous page may help you understand the symbology in the structure of Revelation. Revelation was written around AD 96, during a time of persecution on the early Christian believers and was prophetic from those days through to when the Kingdom will be set- up on this earth. Marginal Note: Signified: to give a sign 6. What three things did John bare record of? 7. What 3 things must we do in order to be blessed? California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 1

8. Why is it important that we understand the things that are written in Revelation? 9. Who is John writing to? 10. What do the words grace & peace mean in v. 4? 11. What 3 states of being does John use to describe God? 12.What 3 ways does John describe Jesus? 13.What 3 things did Jesus do? 14. What do the word glory & dominion mean in v. 6? 15.How will Christ come & who will be aware In the 7 th verse we can see that the he refers to the Lord Jesus Christ, whose hands and feet were pierced and who will come shortly to set up the Kingdom on this earth. The number 7 is very significant in the Bible. It represents spiritual perfection. As we progress through this study of Revelation, the number 7 will continually come to the surface. The purpose of this is to show the perfect divine order that is set out by Yahweh and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, which is revealed in the book of Revelation. of his coming? California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 2

16. We know from other parts of the Bible that Christ will come & was taken in the clouds. We can compare this verse to those occurrences in Dan. 7:13 & Acts 1:9. Mark this in your Bible. 17.How does John describe himself? 18.Where was John when he received the vision of Revelation? 19. Where else in the New Testament are trumpets used and what are they used to do? 20.What did Jesus tell John to do? Reference: Revelation 1:7 Marginal Note: cp. Dan. 7:13 & Acts 1:9 In verse 10, we have the phrase t he Lord s Day. There are a couple different days that hold this title in the Bible, but the correct day is in reference to after his return to the earth to set up the Kingdom on it. A couple supporting verses for this are Philippians 1:6 and 1 Thessalonians 5:2. California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 3

The First Kingdom Vision One Like the Son of Man Revelation 1:12-20 21.What did John see when he turned to see the voice that spake with him? 22.Who was in the midst of the 7 golden candlesticks & what was he wearing? 25.How is the one like the son of man Verse 13 talks about one like the son of man. The reason why this is one like the son of man, and not just the son of man is because it represents a person or group of people that are like Christ. This can better be described as a multitudinous Christ (a group of believers who act and speak like the Lord Jesus Christ). There are seven kingdom visions in the book of Revelation. Each of these visions show various details of what the Kingdom will be like. They also show the different jobs that the righteous will get to do as we prepare for the Kingdom and as we enjoy being in the Kingdom. In this first vision, the image of the Son of Man is introduced to us. We also are able to see that the seven ecclesias are the seven golden candlesticks that are meant to continually provide light before Yahweh, forever. described in verses 14-16? 26.How did the Son of man encourage John? 27.What did the son of man have? California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 4

28.What was John commanded to do? 29.What did the seven stars & the seven candlesticks represent? 30. The 7 candlesticks are first mentioned in Exodus 25:31-39. We can also see which ecclesias they represent in Rev. 1: 11. Mark this in your Bible. Reference: Revelation 1:20 Marginal Note: 7 candlesticks: first occurrence is Ex.25:31-39; see also verse 11 Word Search P S A R D I S P F E Z H H O D Y H X F E G E X L V P Q O A L U H I L A R S R B T P A R H A R F F L G Y K R X W A U N Y Y N N P A A P A Z A N A G E M O F H M P Y D J E R T A V R T W A O U Q D S E Y C M S Y E R S S J R V Q U M L E I Q G V A K B V R N Y S A C P K D U E B J L L S W I E F L D H A O L W E T T U E A H W O A O I B A F S A G F A V P P J I R C A T L U C A N D L E S T I C K S I Z S Q P D V N Y N E H K W D O Q X A R I T A Y H T R Z R K N P A Word Bank ALPHA CANDLESTICKS EPHESUS JESUS JOHN LAODICEA OMEGA PERGAMOS PHILADELPHIA REVELATION SARDIS SEVEN SMYRNA STARS THYATIRA California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 5

Second Kingdom Vision The Throne in Heaven Revelation 4 & 5 In this vision, we once again have the Son of Man, even the Lord Jesus Christ. This time, he is foreseen as sitting on the throne in glory. The nations are at peace and the Saints in Christ surround him. There is a scroll in this vision which has seven seals and as each seal is broken, more of the details are shown. Vv. 1-5 The twenty-four Elders 31.What did Christ show John? 32.What did John see while he was in the spirit? 33.What was around the throne? 34. The elders that were sitting and clothed in white raiment with crowns of gold on their head, represent a special group of people. They were wearing white raiment which refers to the righteousness of the Saints. The crowns that they were wearing were made of gold which refers to tried faith. Who are the elders? (hint: search for the elders and look for their song in chapter 5) 35.What came out of the throne? 36.There were 7 lamps of fire burning before the throne. What did they represent? California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 6

Vv. 6-9 Four Beasts of the Cherubim 37.What was before the throne? 38.What was in the midst & round about the throne? 39.What were the four beasts like? The cherubim in Ezekiel also had four faces. The faces listed there were the lion, the ox, the man and the eagle. In addition, according to Isaiah 6, the 6 winged creature was part of the seraphim who also stated the phrase holy, holy, holy. In this picture in Revelation then, we have not only the angels, but also a picture of the glorified and perfected saints of God. These people are redeemed and set aside to inherit places in the Kingdom of God which will be soon set up on this earth. 40. Where else in the Bible does it talk about these four faces? What is it referring to in the section of verses? 41.How are the four beasts described in v. 8? 42.What were the beasts saying? 43.What two things did the beast give to him that sat on the throne, and liveth for ever and ever? California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 7

Vv. 10-11 Worshipping the Lord who sits on the Throne 44.What happens when the beast gives glory & honor to him that sits on the throne? Rev. 5:1-4 Who Can Open the Scroll THE 11 TH VERSE OF THIS CHAPTER IS A WONDERFUL VERSE TO DISCUSS AN IDEA WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR TO YOU: GOD MANIFESTATION. GOD HAS CHOSEN EACH OF US TO TAKE ON HIS NAME AND TO LIVE BY HIS WORD. IF WE ARE ABLE TO DO THAT, THEN WE ARE CHOOSING TO REFLECT OR MANIFEST HIM. THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF GOD MANIFESTATION IS THE LORD JESUS CHRIST BECAUSE HE LIVED A PERFECT LIFE AND SHOWED GOD S WILL WITH EVERYTHING THAT HE SAID AND DID. BECAUSE CHRIST WAS PERFECT, THERE ARE MANY PHRASES IN THE BIBLE THAT SEEM LIKE THEY COULD BOTH BE REFERRING TO CHRIST OR GOD. IN VERSE 11, IT SAYS FOR THOU HAST CREATED ALL THINGS AND FOR THY PLEASURE THEY ARE AND WERE CREATED. THIS IS NOT SAYING THAT GOD CREATED ALL THINGS, BUT RATHER, THAT ALL OF CREATION WAS DONE BECAUSE OF THIS IDEA THAT GOD WANTS A PEOPLE WHO WILL MANIFEST HIM, GLORIFYING HIM AT ALL TIMES. THE FACT THAT IT IS FOR CHRIST S PLEASURE THAT ALL THINGS WERE CREATED IS TRUE BECAUSE IT IS GOD S WILL THAT CHRIST AND ALL OF THE RIGHTEOUS SAINTS (THOSE WHO HAVE MIRRORED GOD TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY - THOSE WHO HAVE MANIFESTED GOD), GET TO ENJOY THE EARTH THAT WAS CREATED BY OUR HEAVENLY FATHER. 45.What was in the right hand of him that sat on the throne and what was it sealed with? 46.What did the angel proclaim with a loud voice? 47.Who was not able to open the book or to even look on it? 48. Why do you think that it says that no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon? California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 8

Vv. 5-10 The Lamb that is Worthy to Open the Seals 49.Why did one of the elders tell John not to weep? 50. Who is the Lion of the tribe of Juda & the Root of David? Give verses so support your answer. 51.Describe the Lamb that stood in the midst of the throne, beasts & elders. 52.What did the Lamb do? 53.What happened when he took the book? 54.What do the odours which were in the golden vials, represent? 55.What 3 reasons were given for the Lamb being worthy to open the book & the seals? It is commonly known that the Lamb represents the Lord Jesus Christ. In the 6 th verse, we read of the lamb after having been slain, which is Christ after his crucifixion and resurrection. It reads that he had 7 horns and 7 eyes. We have already looked at the fact that the number 7 represents perfection. So what are the horns and eyes? Horns in scripture represent power and eyes represent vision and knowledge. Therefore, the resurrected lamb has perfect power and perfect knowledge. More common terms used for this are omnipotence and omniscience. The lamb with 7 horns & 7 eyes represents the Multitudinous Christ, which is made up of the Lord Jesus Christ and all those who are redeemed (the glorified Saints). California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 9

56. Who was redeemed by Christ blood to be kings and priests, reigning on Earth? Vv. 11-14 The 100 Thousand Angels 57.What did John hear around the throne, the beasts & the elders? 58.How many angels were there? 59.What 7 things was the Lamb worthy of receiving? 60.Who said, Blessing and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever? 61.What happened after the four beasts said Amen? Down 1. The third beast had a face as a 3. The fourth beast was like a flying 6. The first beast was like a Crossword Across 2. The number of eyes & horns the lamb had. 4. The four beasts had each of them six 5. The second beast was like a 7. The number of elders California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 10

The Seals of Vv. 1-2 The First Seal Revelation 6 62.What happened when the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals? the Scroll Are Opened 63.What did John see in the first seal? 64.What was given to the rider? 65.What did the horse & rider do? The first seal was during a time of relative peace in which Christianity was able to spread widely throughout the empire. The crown given to the rider showed victory gained by peace. 66. The 1 st seal occurred between AD 96-183. Mark this in your Bible. Vv. 3-4 The Second Seal 67.What did John see in the second seal? 68.What 2 things were given to him that sat on the horse? 69. The 2 nd seal occurred from AD 183-211. Mark this in your Bible. Reference: Revelation 6:3 Marginal Note: 2nd seal: AD 183-211 Reference: Marginal Note: Revelation 6:1 1st seal: AD 96-183 The second seal released a horse that was red, signifying bloodshed and violence. The time period of peace was now over and instead of overcoming with peace, it used a great sword for slaughtering. California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 11

Vv. 5-6 The Third Seal 70.What did John see in the third seal? 71.What did the rider have in his hand? 72.What did the pair of balances measure out for a penny? The third seal released a horse that was black, signifying distress and famine. During this time, resources became so scarce that many farmers who tried to make a living off the land wound up being in dire straits because of the lack of food. 73. The 3 rd seal occurred between AD 212-217. Mark this in your Bible. Vv. 7-8 The Fourth Seal 74.What was in the fourth seal? 75. What does the word pale mean? 76.Who sat on the horse and what followed him? 77.What was given unto them and why? 78. The 4 th seal occurred between Reference: Revelation 6:7 AD 250-265. Mark this in your Bible. Marginal Note: 4th seal: AD 250-265 Reference: Marginal Note: Revelation 6:5 3rd seal: AD 212-217 The fourth seal released a horse that was a pale- green color, signifying sickness and death. During this time, about half of the Roman empire was wiped out through war, famine and sickness. In fact, these things killed up to 5,000 people per day in Rome. California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 12

Vv. 9-11 The Fifth Seal 79.What did John see when the fifth seal was opened? 80.Why were they slain? 81.What did the souls that were slain cry out? 82. What does it mean to avenge something? (Hint: Use a dictionary) 83.What was given to the souls? 84.What were they told to do and for how long? 85. The 5 th seal occurred between AD 270-310. Mark this in your Bible. The fifth seal showed how the souls under the altar (those still attached to Christ) were slain because they held fast to the word of God and the beliefs of Christ. Because of this, they were given white robes. This signifies the righteousness of the Saints who will soon be part of Christ s Kingdom. Reference: Marginal Note: Revelation 6:9 5th seal: AD 270-310 Vv. 12-17 The Sixth Seal 86.List 7 things that happened when the sixth seal was opened? California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 13

87.How many types of people hid themselves in dens and in the rocks of mountains? 88.What did they want the mountains to do? 89.What were these people trying to do? 90.Why were they hiding? 91. The 6 th seal occurred between AD 312-327.Mark this in your Bible. Reference: Marginal Note: Revelation 6:12 6th seal: AD 312-327 The sixth seal was a time of great fear in which everyone needed to fear for their lives. During this period, Constantine came into power and changed many things in the Roman empire. This entire time period was one in which much fighting occurred in the nation while ruling parties were overthrown. This overthrow is symbolized by the great earthquake in verse 12. There are three great earthquakes in Revelation (Rev. 6:12, 11:13, and 16:18). Each of these represent a change in the ruling powers over the nations. Draw & label your favorite seal California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 14

The Sealed Servants of God Revelation 7:1-8 Vv. 1-4 The 144 Thousand 92.What did John see after the earthquake? 93.Why were the angels holding the winds of the earth? 94.Where was the other angel descending from and what did it have? 95.Who did he cry out to? 96.What did the angel say? _ 97.How many were sealed and where were they from? Vv. 5-8 The Sealing of the Tribes of Israel 98.What twelve tribes of the children of Israel are listed in verses 5-8? 144,000 is a number which represents a great and perfect multitude. Specifically, it represents the complete group of the redeemed Saints who will rule with Christ in the Kingdom which will soon be set up on this Earth. 99. What two tribes were part of the original tribes of Israel and Judah that are missing from this list? California Christadelphian Kids Camp Junior Workbook 2014 15

Third Kingdom Vision A Multitude No Man Can Number Revelation 7:9-17 In this vision, there is a huge number of people that are surrounding the Lamb sitting in the midst of the throne. Instead of following Him, they come up with their own religions and do not follow the Truth as described in the Bible. In Revelation, the religion that is called the whore is Roman Catholicism. The one who speaks to the angel is He that holds the seven in his right hand and walks in the midst of the golden (v.1). Revelation 2 & 3 In this section, John writes letters to the seven churches, or ecclesias, in Asia. Each ecclesia has both positive and negative things written about it by a person with a specific title. In addition, there will always be a special reward which is given to him who overcomes.
