God s s Perfect Plan. Overview of the Bible. By David Dann

The Salvation Process Introduction 1. So many religious people today really believe that there is nothing we have to do in the salvation process except to believe in Jesus. 2. However, from the Bible we can clearly see that there are actually two parts to the salvation process. A. There is God s part that which only God can do. B. There is our part that which God has instructed for us to do if we want to have eternal salvation with Him. God s Part 1. He gave us the gospel. Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." 2 Corinthians 4:3-7 The Salvation Process 1

2. He provided His grace for all man. John 3:14-17 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Titus 2:11-15 3. His provided salvation can only be found in the name of Jesus. Acts 4:11-12 This is the 'STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED BY YOU BUILDERS, WHICH HAS BECOME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE.' Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Ephesians 3:14-15 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 4. God provided His only son (His blood) to die for us. 1 Peter 1:18-19 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. The Salvation Process 2

5. God provided the kingdom, the church for the saved to enter. Matthew 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 6. God has provided the place of eternal rest with Him (Heaven) for those who are obedient to His will. John 14:1-3 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Man s Part 1. Listen to God (hear Him). Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The Salvation Process 3

2. Believe in Jesus fully and completely. John 20:30-31 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. Mark 16:14-16 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 3. Repent of sins, turning from darkness to light. 2 Corinthians 7:9-10 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Acts 17:30-31 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead." The Salvation Process 4

4. Confess that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Matthew 10:32 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. Philippians 2:9-10 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, Acts 8:37 Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." 5. Be baptized in the name of Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Acts 2:38 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, Romans 6:1-5 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, The Salvation Process 5

6. Become a faithful member of the Lord s church. Acts 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 7. Be faithful to God all the days of your life here on this earth and you will inherit an eternal rest with Him! Revelation 2:10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. Revelation 2:7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God." ' Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Conclusion 1. God has certainly done His part in providing a way of salvation for everyone without exception. 2. He wants everyone to be saved, however to be saved we must obey His words what He has told us is necessary for us to have eternal salvation. 3. Be determined to live for Him and obey Him do not listen to those of the world and the Devil who is seeking to devour us! The Salvation Process 6
