Thursday July 25, 2013 5:00 PM Power of Reliance which is turning and returning to Allah SWT is closely related to the worship of Reliance - cannot be done alone without having reliance on Allah SWT. Allah SWT says in Surah Ma idah Ayah 23 that trust on Me if you are a believer; tawakkul is one of the highest rank of religion ( ) Scholars say that Deen is equal to returning to Allah SWT with reliance on Him; Allah SWT says in Quran - this is actually the religion we need to worship Allah SWT but need to seek His help and rely on Him to worship Him. Tawakkul is seeking help from Allah SWT with complete dependence ( ) and is the highest rank of worship ( ) that is why both of them put together is the Deen. Tawakkul is more than seeking Allah SWT and include confidence and dependence on Allah SWT. What is Tawakkul? To give someone authority to dispose off the affairs and take care tawakkul on Allah SWT is relying on Him with trust while taking the means taking the means only with the limbs because Allah SWT has commanded us but hoping and relying only on Allah SWT. how to initiate the tawakkul? Attaining actions and worships of the heart does not come automatically but needs some pre-requisites: Knowledge about the Names and attributes of Allah SWT and getting close to Him with our hearts that is most loved and valued by Him. When we know that Allah SWT is the Nurturer and Owner of everything, All-Knower, All-wise and full of mercy then we trust and rely on Him more than anything; to know ourselves, our needs and poverty and realizing that we are nothing without Allah SWT who is the Most Rich; Page 1
think good about Allah SWT while relying on Him and trusting that He will do best for us; Submission; relying on Allah SWT trusting Him and thinking good about Him and totally submitting to His decree. Signs of Tawakkul: The yardstick to check our reliance is to see that a mutawakkil is always at peace, never stressed about anything ( ) no tension or worry he took the means, worked hard and then put his tawakkul on Allah SWT and satisfied about the outcome that whatever Allah SWT will bring will be best for me. Levels of Tawakkul: We will try to understand the levels with examples Inshaa Allah: Minimum level of tawakkul is that when we authorize someone to take responsibility or charge of something as an example when we hire a lawyer to fight our case in the court then we assign the responsibility to him trusting him and we become relaxed and for Allah SWT the best of the examples to give Allah SWT full authority to dispose our affairs. like a child is with his mother attached to her for every need and for Allah SWT are the best of examples for every need we rely and trust upon Allah SWT; highest level of tawakkul like a dead person and relying on the person who is washing his dead body completely in his hands similarly without uttering any word and my will and desire exactly the same as my Creator, negating himself as he is not there ultimate reliance on Allah SWT. Allah SWT says in Surah Al Ana am Ayah 102 that I am the Wakeel over everything we are trusting Allah SWT for giant things like sky not falling on us, sun not coming out, or moon merging with the sun, matters of the galaxy and not trusting Him for minute matters of our life so Allah SWT is telling us about Himself that He is the One who has created everything and He is the One responsible for disposing of all the affairs. Power of reliance: Allah SWT will be sufficient: Surah Talaaq Ayah 3 And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. For Tawakkul Allah SWT made Himself as a reward that He will be sufficient for you; your heart totally to Allah SWT and He will be sufficient for you; guidance for the success: Surah Hud Ayah 88 And my success is not but through Allah. Upon him I have relied, and to Him I return. Another equation from this ayah which is the guidance to the success is equal to the tawakkul and ; salvation from the trials of shaytan: Surah Nahl Ayah 99 who have believed and rely upon their Lord. Allah SWT and he will be saved from the fitnah of shaytan; Indeed, there is for him no authority over those. The shaytan will have no power over the one having total reliance on love of Allah SWT: Surah Ale Imran Ayah 159 the ones who rely and trust upon Him; Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him]. Allah SWT loves Allah SWT will be sufficient Surah Ahzab Ayah 3 And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. Keep all the worship of the heart for Allah SWT because He is the only One who knows them and Allah SWT does not accept incomplete reliance; Page 3
Firmness Surah Taubah Ayah 51 struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector." And upon Allah let the believers only come with the reliance on Allah SWT; Say, "Never will we be s rely. The firmness can Established on the land with victory Surah Ale Imran Ayah 160 no one can overcome you; but if He should forsake you, who is there that can aid you after Him? And upon Allah let the believers rely. Trusting on self or someone else only results in disappointment; If Allah should aid you, saved from all the harms Surah Ale Imran Ayah 173 Those to whom hypocrites said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs (173) So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them. And they pursued the pleasure of Allah, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty (174). Ibrahim AS while was being thrown in the fire, Jibreel AS came and offered him his help but he said not from you and Allah SWT gave him tranquility and victory and changed the physical characteristics of fire for him and made it cold for him SubhanAllah. Provision without any account Hadith of Nabi SAW Umar RA said: : "I heard the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) say, 'If you were to rely upon Allah with the reliance He is due, you would be given provision like the birds: They go out hungry in the morning and come back with full bellies in the evening.'" [Ibn Majah - graded hasan, Tirmidhi]. entering Paradise without reckoning and punishment Glad tidings for the mutawakkaleen that they will be entered to the Paradise without waiting for anything because in their lives they relied on their Rabb and trusting Him like a dead person in the hands of someone who is washing their body.
