DISCUSSION ON PAPERS IN THE QWR~'ERLr JOVRN~L The Council announces that the pages of the Quarterly Journal are open to the discussion of papers which have already appeared in the Journal. While every Fellow may contribute to these discussions, they are intended primarily for the benefit of Fellows (and particularly those resident overseas) who are unable to attend the meetings of the Society, and to afford such Fellows a closer contact with the Society's activities. Fellows are requested to comply with the following regulations when submitting their contributions to these discussions, since it will not be possible for the Secretaries to enter into correspondence about them or to submit proofs to the contributors. a. Notice will be given in each part of the Journal (normally below the table of contents on the back page of the cover) of the latest date by which discussion of papers in that part will be accepted for consideration. The date selected will be such that all overseas Fellows will have reasonable time to contribute to the discussion. b. Contributions to these discussions should not as a rule exceed 250 words (half a page of the Journal), and they will be subject to editing by the Secretaries. They should be typewritten, and the title of the paper discussed, and the name of its author, appear plainly at the top of the typescript. c. Discussion of the papers published in one volume will normally appear in part 2 of the succeeding volume. d. Participation in the discussion at a meeting, and the publication of his remarks in the Abstracts of Proceedings, will not preclude a Fellow from making a contribution to the subsequent Journal disoussion. The Council desires, in view of the present financial stringency and of the desirability of publishing in the Quarterly Journal all suitable papers with the least possible delay and at the lowest possible cost, to draw the attention of Fellows and other authors of papers to the necessity of reducing manuscripts and illustrations to the minimum, consistent with clear presentation of the subjec~matter. Authors who have in view the submission of papers to the Society should apply for the printed' Instructions to Authors' which the Secretaries will forward, with such other information as may be necessary. The Library at the Apartments of the Society is open on Mondays to Fridays from 10 o'clock until 4 o'clock, and on Saturdays from 10 o'clock until 1 o'clock.
