part one John 8:1-5 1 Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. 3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. part one 1. His Purpose 2

John 8:2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple and He sat down and taught them. (NKJV) Jesus went to the temple to teach them something that would change their life. 2. Their Actions 3

John 8:3-5 3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say? (NKJV) The men said they caught this woman in the act of adultery and they were prepared to kill her. 3. His Actions 4

John 8:6b-8 6b But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. 7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first. 8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. (NKJV) Jesus wrote on the ground twice and He taught them they were all sinners. 4. Their Decision 5

John 8:9a Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. (NKJV) They heard what Jesus said, they were convicted and they got out of the temple as quickly as possible. 5. His Question 6

John 8:9b-10 9b And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you? (NKJV) Jesus wanted this lady to know what the men had decided about condemning her. 6. Her Answer 7

John 8:11a She said, No one, Lord. (NKJV) This lady discovered that the men had decided not to condemn her and that she would be allowed to live. 7. His Declaration 8

John 8:11b And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more. (NKJV) Jesus told this lady that He didn t condemn her but that she needed to stop sinning, too! John 3:16-17 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (NKJV) Jesus came to save us from our sins but He did not come to condemn us for our sins! 9

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 9 Don t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people - none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. 11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (NLT) The church is filled with people who once were controlled by sin but who have been changed by the power of God! 10
