Operating System An Operating System is the core program that manages all the other programs in a computer. Once installed, it is the foundational framework that all other applications run on.

Men and women of the Kingdom operate with a new framework regarding money and treasure

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV)

22 The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Matthew 6:22-24 (NIV)

You are a treasure seeker

You can t not bet your life on something. You can t You are a treasure seeker not be headed somewhere. We live leaning forward, bent on arriving at the place we long for. -Jamie Smith, Desiring the Kingdom

You get to pick your treasure

You are a treasure seeker Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth... But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven... You get to pick your treasure Matthew 6:19-20 (NIV)

15 And he said to them, Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. 16 And he told them a parable, saying, The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops? 18 And he said, I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. Luke 12:15-18 (ESV)

19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry. 20 But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be? 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God. Luke 12:19-21 (ESV)

You don t get to pick the value or consequence of your treasure

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV)

Something is an earthly treasure if: Something is a heavenly treasure if: Moths can destroy it Rust can erode it Thieves can steal it

Something is a heavenly treasure if: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you. 1 Peter 1:3-4 (NASB)

Something is an earthly treasure if: Something is a heavenly treasure if: Moths can destroy it Rust can erode it Thieves can steal it It doesn t perish It doesn t spoil It doesn t fade

1. Materialism can be blinding... so double down on generosity

The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your Materialism can be blinding eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! Matthew 6:22-23 (NASB)

We fight blinding materialism with generosity The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. Matthew 6:22 (NASB)

1. Materialism can be blinding... so double down on generosity 2. Counterfeit gods can be alluring... so constantly review the location of your heart

Counterfeit gods Control: a longing to have everything go according to my plan Approval: a longing to be accepted or desired Power: a longing for influence or recognition Comfort: a longing for pleasure

A counterfeit God is anything so central and essential to your life, should you lose it, your life would feel hardly worth living. It can be family and children, or career and making money, or achievement and critical acclaim, or saving face and social standing. It can be a romantic relationship, peer approval, a competence and skill, secure and comfortable circumstances, your beauty or your brains, a great political or social cause, your morality and virtue, or even success in Christian ministry.

When your meaning in life is to fix someone else s life, we may call it co-dependency, but it really is idolatry. An idol is whatever you look at and say, in your heart of hearts, If I have that, then I will feel my life has meaning, then I will know I have value, then I ll feel significant and secure. Tim Keller

Whatever your heart clings to and confides in, that is really your god. Martin Luther
