Sunday April 6th, 2014 Fifth Sunday in Lent Gathering Hymn: Give To Our God Immortal Praise Hymn # 112 Verses 1 & 3 Welcome and Announcements Greeting: (Please stand) Responsive Reading Psalm 130:1-8 My Soul Waits for the Lord P: 1 Out of the depths I cry to you, LORD; 2 Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. P: 3 If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? 4 But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. P: 5 I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. 6 I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. P: 7 Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. 8 He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins. Hymn of Praise: When I Survey The Wondrous Cross Hymn # 324 Verses 1, 3 & 4 Prayer of the Day (Please be seated) 1

Praise to You O Christ! Message: Pr. Mark Daniels (Please stand) Hymn of the Day: Faith Of Our Fathers Hymn # 404 What We Believe: The Apostles Creed L: As God s people connected to Christ, let us confess our faith. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, 2

the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Time of Confession and Forgiveness P: Almighty God, to Whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from Whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You and worthily magnify Your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen P: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Silence for reflection and self-examination P: Most merciful God, we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your holy name. Amen Absolution P: Almighty God, in His mercy, has given His Son to die for us and, for His sake, forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the Church of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen The Peace P: Sisters and brothers, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace. 3

P: The peace of the Lord be with you always. And also with you. (Please share God s peace with those around you) Prayers of the Church (please be seated) L: Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus and all People according to their needs. After each prayer petition the leader will say, Lord, in Your mercy" to which the congregation replies, Hear our prayer. L: Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy; through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Offertory Response: Seek Ye First Hymn # 713 Offering Prayer (please stand) P: Blessed are You, O Lord God, maker of all things. Through Your goodness You have blessed us with these gifts. With them we can offer ourselves to Your service and dedicate ourselves to the care and redemption of all that You have made, for the sake of Him Who gave Himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Communion: The Great Thanksgiving P: The Lord be with you. And also with you. P: Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise. Words of Institution The Lord s Prayer P: Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 4

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen Sharing the Meal (please be seated) All baptized believers are invited to receive communion.
