ARISE Ministry School The ARISE Ministry School is a training centre where students grow in faith, expand in their knowledge of the Bible and develop in character and leadership.
Leadership John & Gillian Cameron Lead Pastors of ARISE Church Sixteen years ago on our first ever trip to Wellington, I felt God promise me that one day we would build a large facility in which we would train and release a new generation of ministers and leaders for the church of New Zealand and around the world. That people young in spirit would be empowered, equipped and released. At the time Gillian and I were sitting in a taxi; the church was barely a dream in our hearts. Now that promise is being fulfilled. We ve seen hundreds of students come through our Internship School and now with the ARISE Centre we can house our Ministry School and continue to see many people step out into their God-given circles of influence. God may be calling you to set aside a season to grow in character and leadership for one, two or three years, whether it is now or in the years to come. We pray that God directs your path. Giving my everything to follow Jesus wasn t easy, but looking back it was the best decision of my life. I came in one way, quite a shy and reserved person, and God has grown me, shaped me, walked with me. I have now been part of the ARISE journey for 11 years. I believe in people and in them outworking their purpose in God. Every person has their place in building His house! I believe you enter the ARISE Ministry School one way and will leave differently, you will grow in character, in favour with both God and man, and you will uncover precious gifts inside of you. I am passionate about the church of New Zealand and I am passionate about raising up and training people to make a difference every day, everywhere. You are a masterpiece! What to expect The ARISE Ministry School is present at all of our ARISE campuses. The largest intake is in our Nation-wide office which houses both the Wellington, Hutt Valley and Kapiti teams. The ARISE Ministry School offers a well rounded experience with a diverse range of classroom learning, personal growth and practical ministry opportunities. As an integral part of the ARISE Church family, you ll learn more about God, be empowered in your unique gifts, and be equipped in areas of leadership and ministry experience. Courses 2019 Programme Academic Courses Certificate in Christian Ministries* Level 4 The Certificate is an entry level programme for those who haven t studied at a tertiary level &/or would like to learn the basics of Christianity. This course includes a Practical Ministry Internship and covers topics of Discipleship, Encountering the Bible, Theology and Christian Belief. Run in association with Laidlaw College. Diploma in Christian Ministries* Level 5 The Diploma is equivalent to a first year university level programme for those who previously studied and would like to learn the basics of Christianity. The topics include Formation, Theology, Faith in Action and Mission, Church and Community and a practical Leadership Internship. School Year Start date: Thursday 7th February 2019 Graduation Date: Sunday 24th November 2019 End Date: Sunday 8th December 2019 Fees Schedule* Certificate of Christian Ministries - $4236 Inc. GST (Student loans and allowances available) Diploma of Christian Ministries - $5970 Inc. GST (Student loans and allowances available) Practical Internship Only - $1500 Inc. GST (No student loans and allowances available) * The cost could change slightly. There is an additional Student Services Fee of $120 per year. There are also a limited amount of spaces. These courses are provided through Laidlaw Col lege. We also offer courses that lead on from Level 5 in association with Laidlaw College. * We want to help make the Ministry School work for all students. If you are 30 or over talk to us and we can discuss options, eg. Night School.
Internships The ARISE Ministry School offers internships for one, two, or three years. Internships provide an environment where students are challenged to grow in their skills and operate with increased effectiveness in ministry. While practical, task-based work is a key focus an even greater importance is placed on spiritual input. Worship and discipleship are an integral part of the internship, where students are ministered to by ARISE pastors and leaders. Interns will have both a major and a minor area of service. Week to week, interns will work closely with ARISE staff in a fast-paced office environment, often alongside a team of others majoring in the same area. Each day in the office is varied and offers new opportunities for learning and growth. 1 Year Year One Certificate/Diploma* For first year interns, ARISE offers a Certificate in Christian Ministries or a Diploma in Christian Ministries in association with Laidlaw College. This programme is a great foundational course for those who wish to serve in the local church, deepen their knowledge of the Bible and their Christian faith. Time is divided between practical work, discipleship, reflections and lectures. 2 Two Diploma/Practical Internship For those who want to take the next step in their ministry life and expand into further study. After first year, students can choose whether they continue in their academic study through Laidlaw College or as practical only students. Time will be divided between practical work, discipleship, reflections and lectures and second year interns will be given more responsibility in practical work of building the church. 3 Year Three Full Practical Internship Third year interns can choose to complete a final year of ARISE Ministry School, with a purely practical focus. This could include being part of a church planting team or responsibility for a key area of a church function. Interns can choose whether to continue in academic study or do a practical internship only. * We encourage our students to participate in academic study although if you have already completed a tertiary qualification, study may not be a formal requirement.
