President s Column On behalf of the Executive Council, I am pleased to provide to all of you a progress report during the 3 rd quarter of 2016 as well as some major events coming up during the next few months. During the last 9 months, we have come a long away in making good progress towards achieving the goals and objectives we had set in the beginning of the year. Below is a summary update: Silver Jubilee: This is temple s 25 th anniversary from the Bhoomi puja year held in 1991. A grand Silver Jubilee celebration and a fundraiser are planned for Saturday, October 1 st at ICC. We will revisit temple history, enjoy the entertainment program by Bollywood singer Shweta Subram group and raise funds towards Phase IV. Shikhar Update: This being one of main objective for 2016, lots of planning and construction activities are under way. Shikhar panels arrived in early July. They were assembled on our parking lot and an enthusiastic community came to view the assembled Shikhars. Canopies work has started and is expected to be completed in the next couple of weeks. Steel for Shikhars structures has been sent for galvanizing and is expected to be received back by the steel contractor on September 25 or earlier. Shikhars structures will be assembled at the contractor s site, brought to the Temple and installed on the canopies and the building roof by the end of September. Then the Shikhars will be lifted and installed on the structures and the roofs. This event will begin by the end of September and will take about two weeks for completion. Windows, doors and column decorations along with canopy fascia will be leaving the factory in India on September 26 th for shipping to our site with about five weeks of transit time. Shikhars will be assembled on the roof before the Shikhar consecration dates of October 20 th 23 rd, 2016. So get ready for celebrations. There are limited puja and havan slots and if you would like to sponsor and participate please refer to information provided in this newsletter. Also EC team and their support teams under leadership of Sanjay Mathur under direction from Kumar have been implementing many required tasks related to this major Shikhar undertaking. They will rely on many dedicated volunteers and if you haven t signed up, please do so. Refer to the Shikhar flyer. President s column. Continued: Financial Update: As of August 31, 2016, temple has received donations and commitments over $300,000 for the Phase IV and Shikhar project. We have spent approximately $160,000 on Shikhar fabrication and related expenses so far. Temple s operational income is about $90,000 through August end, with expenses of about $80,000. With God s grace and temple supporters, we continue to manage expenses with regular income. We still need your support to bridge the $300,0000 gap for Phase IV expenses. To further improve temple s booking process of pujas and hall bookings, BoTs have approved upgrading of our website where in future these bookings can be done on-line along with other features which are needed. Upcoming events: During the next quarter you can participate in many pujas which include Navarathri, Mata ki Chowki, Durga Ashtami/Kanya puja, Vijaya Dasami/Dussehra, Karva Chauth, Shikhar consecration from Oct 20 th Oct 23 rd, and Deepawali to name a few. On the evening of Sunday, October 23 rd, there will be a celebratory social dinner for all of us (in lieu of the annual banquet scheduled on Nov 19th) to get together and celebrate accomplishments of 2016 year and the completion of Shikhar consecration. Please pitch in: Once again, I ask that you please continue to support our Facility Secretary Vinodji by following the posted signs and instructions, helping in set ups, clean ups and be conscious of cost, waste disposal and energy use.
