Student Ministry News The beginning of a new year brings opportunity. It brings opportunity to evaluate what we have done over the past year and it brings opportunity to look at what we want to do in the future. Throughout the past year we have continuously asked the question: Do you actions match your faith? Another way to put this is Are you living out your faith? I want to challenge you to look back over this last year and see how you did. I also want to challenge you to look forward to this coming year and look to see what else you can do to live out your faith. I learned a lot in putting together our recently completed World Religions Study. I hope that study was as beneficial to you as it was to me. This month we are set to kick off a new study called GodQuest. This will be a 6 week study that will show us how our beliefs shape our lives. I invite you to join us each Wednesday night for this intriguing study. Coming up on Jan. 19-22 is our trip to Chillipepper. Registration for this trip is full. We have a great group going and I am looking forward to this trip. We plan to leave on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 2:00pm sharp. Further details will be mailed soon to those signed up to go. I am looking forward to a great trip. I encourage you to begin now to pray over what God might do in your life on this trip. Our final fundraiser for Chillipepper is coming up on Sunday, Jan. 15 th. We will be doing a meal following the church service that day. As always the students that are here to help with the fundraiser will benefit from it. Look for order forms in the bulletins soon. We appreciate your generosity in supporting our fundraisers that make our big trips more affordable for our students. In Christ, John Harmon Eph. 3:16 *****Don t forget to check out the calendar for upcoming events***** MoMA s Please come join us for Moma s (Mothers of Many Ages) group. We are a group of moma s that meet the first Thursday morning of every month (Sept. to May) from 9:00am - 11:00pm at the Swansea First Baptist Church., for some moma time, fellowship and fun. Child care is available for newborn to preschool if needed. It does not matter if you are a new mama or a veteran mama, we would love to see and meet you. We will have light refreshments and lots of fellowship. So please join us and bring a friend. For more information, please call Jan Marie Booth @ 568-3881 or Charlyse McCarson @ 210-9661. Mark you calendar, our next meeting will be January 4 @ 9:00 am. A special thanks to our MoMA s helpers. Without you we could not provide this ministry. Thanks again. Jan Marie Retaining Wall Received: $22,500.00 Special Thanks to Kary Hoffman for his work and leadership on this project.

It s That Time of Year. The Christmas hurry up is over we have all over shopped, over spent and over eaten. Our pants are tight and we are just miserable. And just when you think it can t get any worse someone (like me), asks, So what are your New Year s Resolutions? Hmm.usually the answers range from I don t make them or to lose a few pounds. If I had lost all of the weight I planned to over the past 10 years I would have disappeared by now! And if I had kept all of the resolutions made who knows what a life I could be living. So I have re-thought the whole resolution thing and have decided to do things a bit differently this year. Maybe you would like to consider doing the same thing. Each month I am going to do one thing different or exciting. Here s my list.. January Clean out one closet. Donate the useable and discard the junk. February Hibernate. Pick a few days during the month to not answer the phone, door or emails. Wear sloppy clothes, eat my favorite foods and read a book. March Accept the March madness and just go with the flow. April Clean out another closet. Donate and discard. May Plant one tomato bush in a container. June Take a vacation for one. Go to a museum, book store or Wal-Mart alone. July Start Christmas shopping. Make ornaments and do Christmas crafts. August Clean out another closet. Donate and discard. September Continue to Christmas shop and do Christmas craft things. Make all those homemade gifts. October Clean out another closet. Donate and discard. November Be Thankful. Name my blessings each week. December If you did the Christmas shopping, made all of the crafts and cleaned the closets Then relax and enjoy the season!!! Fa, la, la, la la la!! Ha Ha Ha. It was the thought and effort that counted! Until next time, Angie Redmond, Parish Nurse call 568-5404 or email angela.redmond@palmettohealth.org Meredith Moments It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone! However, I couldn't be more pleased with the accomplishments of the adult and children's choirs over the course of the past twelve months. The children's choir did their first Easter musical as well as performing special music monthly during the school year. It always brings me such joy to hear them lift their voices in praise on Sunday mornings. Thanks to all of the parents for keeping them coming on Wednesday nights for practice! I hope all would agree that the adult choir just seems to get better and better! They, too, have done a spectacular job preparing special music each month and with the Easter and Christmas cantatas, both of which were multimedia productions. Thank you to all of my adult choir members for your hard work and dedication to our ministry through song! Jane Ann and I would like to express our appreciation to our congregation for the most generous Christmas gift you gave us! We feel very blessed to be able to serve at Swansea First Baptist! In closing, just a reminder to our choir members to enjoy your time off. We will see everyone in January. We wish everyone the merriest of Christmases and a New Year filled with God's blessings Baptist Men s Dinner Tuesday, January 17th @ 7:00pm Joe Sharpe s Crew Bill Blithe David Zeigler, Jr. John Sturkie Bill Deal John Harmon Bobby Boyer
