THE 2012 2016 QUADRENNIAL THEME - COUNCIL OF BISHOPS: THE AFRICAN METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION 2013 - THE GOAL OF DISCIPLESHIP Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 2014 - THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Mark 8: 34-36 2015 - THE EVIDENCE OF DISCIPLESHIP A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:34 35 2016 - THE HARVEST OF DISCIPLESHIP Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:37 38 THE FRUIT OF DISCIPLESHIP I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5 (John 15:1-5.
