This year,תשע"ג on Tuesday evening, Chof oir lechof Alef Kislev (Dec. 4th), in Maariv, we start.אי"ה saying Vesein Tal Umotor Livrocho. We will continue doing so until Erev Pesach by Mincha 2. 3. If one forgot to say Vesein Tal Umotor Livrocho, it depends where he reminded himself: 4. If one reminded himself before he said אתה( ה' מברך השנים","(ברוך he goes back to Vesein Tal Umotor Livrocho and continues from there. 5. If one already said אתה( ה' מברך השנים" "(ברוך but reminded himself before he started the Brocho of."תקע בשופר" then he says Vesein Tal Umotor Livrocho and then continues "תקע בשופר" 6. If one already started בשופר" "תקע then he continues straight till the middle of תפילה", "שומע and "'ומלפניך מלכנו ריקם אל תשיבנו, ותן טל ומטר לברכה, כי אתה שומע וכו" following: says the ותן טל ומטר here: then he says "רצה", but did not yet start "ברוך אתה ה' שומע תפילה" 7. 3. Wicks: cotton etc. 4. Shamoshim: Made of beeswax. Make sure that you have a longer Shamosh for Friday. Many packages of shamoshim will have one or two shamoshim that are longer than the others to be used for the Friday lighting. 5. Candles: all wax candles should be lit half (1/2) hour after nightfall (צה כ) for Friday evening lighting the candles should be longer. 6. Matches. 7. Coins: To give Chanuka Gelt to the children each night of Chanuka( including Friday,to be given on Erev Shabbos or Sunday.( 8. Ingredients for Latkes: Have available the necessary ingredients to make latkes and/or doughnuts. (Potatoes, oil, jam, etc.) 9. Dreidels. During Chanukah: 1. Tachanun: Tachanun is not recited from Mincha, Erev Chanuka, until the end of Chanuka. 2. Tzedaka: It is customary to add in the giving of Tzedaka on Chanuka. 4. Chanukah Gelt: It is proper to give Chanukah gelt to one s children (even if they are adults or married) each night of Chanukah. On the (fourth or) fifth night, more is given. For Shabbos, it is given on Erev Shabbos or on Sunday. 5. Latkes Evening : The Rabbeim would make a farbrengen with their families one of the nights of. לאטקעס אווענט Chanukah, and it was called a 6. Dreidel: It is customary to play with a dreidel. Participate in a Chassidishe Farbrengen. Candle Lighting (At Home): 7. Place: The Menorah is placed on a table or a chair that the flame should be higher than 3 Tefachim (10 inches) and lower than 10 Tefachim (40 inches), and for Mehadrin (32 inches).
