Welcome to CWC 2010! Hello and welcome to a conference especially designed for you. Our aim is to promote opportunities for women throughout our region to hear good Bible teaching and to encourage each other from God's Word. Here s our program for the day. 9 am 9:30 am 10:40 am 11:10 am 12:15 pm 12:40 pm 1:40 pm 2:40 pm 3:30 pm Registration Session 1 Morning tea Session 2 Group discussion Lunch Session 3 Question time Close Today we are focussing on how to live between the Cross and Christ's return. Lesley Ramsay, who works with Evangelism Ministries in Sydney, has spoken at many women's conferences and we are pleased she could join us this year. Lesley will take us to Jesus and what he taught his disciples just before his crucifixion, as recorded in John 14 to 16. CWC is organised and hosted by a team of evangelical Christian women as a non-denominational event. If you would like to make comments on the feedback form it will help future conferences to continue to be both relevant and effective. The CWC committee this year is Kate Bracks (coordinator), Kath Henderson, Annie Johnson, Naomi Kemp, Lesley Pidgeon and Nerissa Toms. If you would like information about any aspect of CWC, please contact Kate on kate@orangecwc.org.au. You can also find details about CWC on our website, www.orangecwc.org.au. The pink door photo was taken by Darwin Bell, and can be found on flickr.com. It is available for use under a Creative Commons license, for not-for-profit purposes. Thank you, Darwin! 3

Talk 1 John 14:1-14 Don't worry... trust! 1. The disciples are worried (John 13) 2. Jesus responds with three truths: I m going to prepare a place for you... (John 14:1-2)... but I will come back for you... (John 14:3) 4

... you know the way to this place (John 14:4-6) 3. You can trust Jesus because of his relationship with the Father (John 14:7-14) The challenge to trust 5

Talk 2 - John 14:15-27; 16:5-16 I will not leave you alone I will send you 1. A counsellor / advocate / comforter (John 14:15-17) God dwells He stands beside Another (same kind) of counsellor 6

2. A teacher (John 14:25-26, 16:12-15) Everything I told you Guide you into all truth Not speak on his own Bring glory to Jesus 3. A world convicter (John 16:8-11) 7

Talk 3 - John 15:17-16:4 You will be hated get used to it! 1. Introduction 2. Love and hate (John 15:17-19) 3. As the master, so the servant (John 15:20-21) 8

4. Exposed sin ignorance (John 15:22-24) 5. Yet God is sovereign (John 15:25) 6. Servant and Spirit will testify (John 15:26-27) 7. Expect the worst, but you will stand (John 16:1-4) 9

Discussion questions John 14:1-14 1. How do you think about heaven? When are the times you are glad you are only passing through this temporary earthly existence? 2. Tease out what it means for you when Jesus says, I am the way... I am the truth... I am the life (see John 14:6). 3. How does society and the world regard Jesus statement, No-one comes to the Father, but by me (John 14:6)? How can we express this truth without turning people off? 4. When is it difficult for you to trust Jesus? Do you find it hard to express this? How can your Christian friends help you during these times? 10

John 14:15-27; 16:5-16 1. Jesus describes the Holy Spirit as another Counsellor (John 14:16). Who is the first counsellor and how are their functions similar? 2. Share with your group a time when you were very aware that the Spirit was acting as your counsellor or advocate. 3. If someone said that the Holy Spirit told them something, how would you respond or check it out? 4. Part of living confidently after Jesus has left the room is our confidence in the Scriptures. What part does the Spirit play in that confidence? 11

Our songs Each year we draw our selection of songs and music from a wide range of Christian music sources. Thanks to a great idea posted on our website, we now list under each song the name of the CD where the song is recorded (where available). In many cases this includes the sheet music as well; check the CD itself to find out if it is an enhanced CD. CWC reports use of words and music through CCLI license number 63637. At the cross At the cross God demonstrates His love for us While we were sinners Jesus came to die So by His blood We could be justified At the cross God demonstrates His endless grace He chose to send His precious only Son To punish Him For sins we've done At the cross God demonstrates that He is just Unpunished sins Could not be overlooked So Jesus took them on Himself So be not ashamed of the cross It brings salvation to all who believe God is revealed Guilt is removed Forgiveness can now be received So be not ashamed of the cross Tell of its power to all who will hear Great is our joy Glory is ours From death we can now be set free 12 Words by Bryson Smith Music by Philip Pervical (1996) At the cross/one for many (mp3 CD) Christ alone My gracious Lord Jesus To you alone I cling Your love and Your mercy, In tribute I will sing You alone bring salvation You alone can redeem You alone gave me hope When I was lost in my sin

While we do His good will He abides with us still And with all who will trust and obey Trust and obey For there's no other way To be joyful in Jesus But to trust and obey (repeat) 17

Not a burden we bear Not a sorrow we share But our toil He does richly repay Not grief nor a loss Not a frown nor a cross But is blessed if we trust and obey! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer Oh what peace we often forfeit Oh what needless pain we bear All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged Take it to the Lord in prayer Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness Take it to the Lord in prayer But we never can prove The delights of His love Until all on the altar we lay For the favour He shows And the joy He bestows Are for them who will trust and obey! Then in fellowship sweet We will sit at His feet Or we'll walk by His side in the way What He says we will do Where He sends we will go Never fear, only trust and obey! Take it to the Lord in prayer In His arms He'll take and shield you You will find a solace there Blessed Saviour, You have promised You will all our burdens bear May we ever, Lord, be bringing All to You in earnest prayer Soon in glory bright unclouded There will be no need for prayer Rapture, praise and endless worship Will be our sweet portion there Words by Joseph M Scriven (1820-1886) Music by Charles C Converse (1832-1918) (Public domain)

CWC 2011 Saturday 7 May with Sue Ravenhall Susan moved from Sydney to Young three years ago and can honestly say she didn t find the change in culture too hard! The main things she enjoys about living in Young are the stars at night, shopkeepers who don t make you sign your credit card because they know you and, of course, cherries. Things she s not so flash about are being unable to use the traffic as an excuse to be late, and having to wait six weeks to see her doctor. Susan enjoys administration, that sense of achievement that comes in paying a bill and filing paperwork away, as well as watching her veggies grow, and cooking. Most of all she enjoys hanging out with her boys: Tim, husband of six years, and Rex, son of two years. Susan is very excited about opening God s Word at CWC 2011, and is looking forward (with some trepidation) to all God will be teaching her in the process. CWC 2011 is set to be another encouraging conference, founded in God s Word. Why not bring a friend who hasn t been before, or organise a group from church? If you d like further information about any aspect of CWC, contact Kate on kate@orangecwc.org.au. 20
