Sons of God Chosen For a Purpose By David Drew For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the Sons of God. (Romans 8:14) For the earnest expectation of creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the Sons of God. (Romans 8:19) that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. (Romans 8:21-22) For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren. (Romans 8:29) Most Christians seem to be unaware of the part the Sons of God play in God s Kingdom agenda as revealed in the above scriptures. In addition, it s unlikely you will hear a sermon preached regarding the Sons of God at Church next Sunday. Pastors and teachers appear to have no view on who the Sons are and what their purpose is, or, if they do, they don t preach on it because it would be of no relevance to the people in their congregations. For most, the Sons are a mystery. They don t fit into the current, status quo religious systems and their view of things. Indeed the Sons are a mystery; but the Apostles clearly knew about them; especially the Apostle Paul. They were not slow in declaring the whole counsel of God and spoke frequently about the last days as Jesus did. Paul in particular could see the mystery. The mystery being that God in Christ would come and literally live in sinful, mortal people, or flood people with Himself as declared in Ephesians. 1
That you may really come to know practically, through experience for yourselves the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge without experience; that you may be filled through all your being unto all the fullness of God, may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself! (Ephesians 3:19 Amplified) Can you accept this? People flooded with God Himself? It doesn t make sense to the natural mind and it doesn t have to. The natural mind is out of sync with God s mind and must be renewed. (Romans 8:7-8) It would be interesting to know whether the Apostles had discussions with Jesus regarding the Sons of God and what their role would be in the healing and restoring of creation. It would be nice to think that Jesus would have discussed it with them seeing as He was the first-born Son and that the second-born Sons were destined to come and be saviours to the whole of creation in the last days. For 6000 years since the Fall in the Garden of Eden, the whole of creation has been yearning and longing for God s foreordained Sons (not gender specific) to appear. For the discerning, it is clear creation s birth pangs are currently increasing and intensifying. The time for the revelation of the Sons is near. Coupled with this is Isaiah s prophetic declaration which appears to be describing God s Sons: Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. (Isaiah 60:1-2). Deep darkness is covering the earth as the masses are being herded by the powers that be (human and demonic) like sheep into a Satan planned outcome. In sharp contrast to this, the Sons are being called to arise and shine and play their pivotal role in God s pre-ordained Kingdom purpose. The question is, and the reason you are reading this article now is to ask you this: Were you born for the Kingdom for such a time as this? (Esther 4:14) The Sons are so significant to God that Jesus came to suffer and die in order to bring many Sons to glory. Jesus is not ashamed to call them brethren, and through sanctification, He and they are one. For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings. For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, (Hebrews 2:10-11 NASB) No price was too big to pay. 2
Bringing sons to glory is probably not what most people think who give the subject scant attention. It does mean the Sons in time will be in heaven, and that they will be glorious and victorious, but the reality is there is much more to the Sons. What follows is not a common understanding but it is presented here for you to ponder and pray over. 3 1. God s sons were foreordained and chosen before the foundation of the world. 2. God s Sons were foreordained for service, for a specific, preplanned role in God s Kingdom economy. 3. God s Sons are His offspring. They are family. God s Sons are carrying within them the very essence of Who God and Jesus are. They are act like Jesus (the First-Born Son), talk like Him, respond like Him, reach out like Him, and love like Him. They only do and say what they hear the Father doing and saying just as Jesus did. They have God s DNA. It could be said, They are a chip off the old block to use an earthly colloquium. They are all One. 4. The Sons will be able to humble themselves and lower themselves when necessary to the lowest of all levels to where the dispossessed live. They will carry God s glory but have no need of earthly credentials to give them status before men. They carry God Himself. He is their credentials. This is the big one. How does one carry God s glory and be humble? They must humble themselves as Jesus did. He made Himself of no reputation. (Philippians 2:5-11). John the Baptist (clearly a foreordained Son) said, He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30) 5. Sons overtaken by pride and ambition cannot make it through. They will fall. Yes, Sons can fall just as Lucifer did. Pride is the deceiver, and it destroys. 6. Who are the sons of God? Are they all the Christians who have prayed the sinner s prayer and made Jesus the Lord of their life? No they are not. The Sons are the first fruits company who precede the rest of the saints into their glorious state. They know who they are and what they are here for. Does this make them superior or elite? No it does not. They are, and were, chosen for a particular purpose. 7. Earlier Sons in history were foreordained for a specific purpose in God s economy. Think of Noah, Moses, Esther, Joshua, Elijah, Elisha, David, and the Apostles to name a few. They were all chosen. Chosen for a specific role, just as the Sons and daughters of God are in the 21 st century. 8. The Sons role in the 21 st century is that they play a critical part in the war against good and evil. They open up the way for the Kingdom of God to be fully established on the earth as it is in heaven. 9. In addition, they are a part the Overcomers company mentioned in Revelation 12. These Sons/Overcomers are a vital part of God s end-time agenda. They cause an upheaval of immense proportions in both the spirit (demonic) world, and, in the so-
called Christian world. The demonic spirit world will be devastated when the meet their opposite number. The Sons have the spiritual DNA of their Father and operate in all His glorious power and glory. The Christian world will also be rocked when they realise that some who were in their midst and different, have a special last day s role to play. They will come to realise that the Sons are the first fruits unto God like the 144,000 mentioned in Revelation chapters 7 and 14. History Proves We Should Expect Conflict The power-hungry hierarchy in the Christian, religious world will also be devastated as they see their power-base shattering all around them. There will be war declared, just as it was when William Tyndale challenged the Catholic Church and Henry the 8 th by translating the New Testament from Latin and Greek into the English language. He did it so it could be put in the hands of the common people. The hierarchy then, were so incensed they had him burnt at the stake along with 20,000 of his bibles! His contemporary, Martin Luther, after nailing the 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church, was branded a heretic and was only saved by a changing of the guard. A similar war will erupt when the Sons start their ministry. They will be revealing Christ who similarly incensed the religious leaders in His day. God s presence brings out the best and the worst in people. The war will be physical and spiritual. Part of it is being waged in the heavenlies right now with much consternation and concerned activity by those on the side of Satan. This is not just demons but people at all levels of society who are being influenced by demons. This is the start of a final battle against good and evil and it will be a fight to the finish. Just as Tyndale was called the most dangerous man in Tudor England, so God s Sons will be targeted in a similar way. This is not for the faint of heart but for those who love not their lives to the death. Having said that, demons are no match for God s Sons who exercise God s authority and presence. Demons tremble at God s presence. They believe in God and His word. That is why the Sons must authoritively speak God s words to put them in their place, and not just pray. (Proverbs 18:21; James 2:19) A Glorious Harvest God s Sons are ready to be revealed and the enemy is enraged knowing his time is short. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest for wisdom, strength and protection for yourself and those in the frontline. Tares will be separated from the wheat now and it will be difficult for many. However, even though this period is the beginning of sorrows it is also the beginning of a harvest of souls into the Kingdom, the likes of which has rarely been seen before. Millions will come in when they meet the Sons and when they see Jesus manifesting before their very eyes. They will literally run into the Kingdom, eclipsing anything seen in recent history. Signs and wonders like those that accompanied Jesus and the disciples will happen again and even greater. Some are saying It's still four months until harvest I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest, says the Lord! 4
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and the church of the Firstborn who are registered in heaven to God the judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For they did not escape who refused him who spoke on the earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from him who speaks from heaven. Now this, yet once more, indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 13:22-29) The Lord s shaking has commenced so that which cannot be shaken remains. This refers to the Sons who remain steadfast in spite of the shaking. Now we must ask you the question again. Were you born for the Kingdom for such a time as this? (Esther 4:14) Pray about it and ask the Lord to lead and guide you.
