PLEASE NOTE: MYSTERY OF RECONCILIATION (Confessions) 16 The Patio Area of the House of Prayer will be used exclusively for Confessions and meditation. Out of reverence for the Mystery of Reconciliation and respect for the privacy of those who are coming to receive forgiveness, we ask that those waiting in lines stand a proper distance away from the confessional. We also ask that the Pilgrims refrain from using this area for conversation or for walking back and forth. Your cooperation is appreciated! PLEASE NOTE: HOLY COMMUNION During all Divine Liturgies at the Mother of God Shrine and the Shrine Altar, Holy Communion will be distributed at Communion Stations. Out of reverence for the Eucharist, we ask Pilgrims to keep a respectful silence and to maintain order in line.

OF SPECIAL IMPORTANCE TO THE SICK, INFIRM AND PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED Arrangements have been made for the Physically Challenged to receive the Mystery of Reconciliation at the Gazebo area in front of Macrina Manor (directly above the Mother of God Altar). On Sunday, September 2, confessions for the Physically Challenged will begin at 1:30 pm. Special provisions are offered to the Sick, Infirm, and Physically Challenged at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Sunday, September 2 at 4:00 pm. A special tent will be provided for them. They are requested to be in their places by 3:30 pm on Sunday. Arrangements have been made for clergy to bring Holy Communion to them in their places. Please Note: The Anointing Service for the Sick will be held on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2 at the Shrine Altar at 2:00 pm. 17

IMPORTANT SAFE ENVIRONMENT NOTICE: In order to provide and maintain a safe environment for children and youth attending the 84th Annual Pilgrimage, a vital set of guidelines has been established regarding minors under the age of 18 who come to the Pilgrimage unaccompanied by a parent(s). Prior to Pilgrimage, parents must have completed and submitted two forms on behalf of each minor participating in supervised Pilgrimage activities: These forms found on our website are: 1) Parental Consent and Waiver of Liability Form and 2) Medical Matters Form. Completed forms may be dropped off at the Welcome Desk in front of the House of Prayer. Forms, further guidelines and information may also be obtained at the Information Desk in the House of Prayer. 18 TRANSPORTATION and PARKING Vans to accommodate the elderly, sick, and infirm will be available for transportation to the various areas on the Mount. Stops are posted and the vans will make their rounds approximately every half hour. Transportation is also available from the handicapped parking site to the main areas of Pilgrimage. FOR SAFETY REASONS AND TO HELP PROMOTE A PRAYERFUL ATMOSPHERE THROUGHOUT THE PILGRIMAGE, ALL ARE REQUESTED TO OBSERVE THE ONE- WAY TRAFFIC FLOW.

OF SPECIAL INTEREST INVITATION: Pilgrims are invited to pray at the Monastery Chapel on Saturday, September 1, and on Sunday, September 2, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm as part of your Pilgrimage experience. MONASTERY VISITORS: All visitors to the Monastery are asked to use the designated front entrance of the Monastery. MAUSOLEUM / CEMETERY: The Mausoleum/Cemetery Office, located in Holy Resurrection Mausoleum, will have available information about the Mausoleum and Cemetery. Times are indicated when someone will be there to answer your questions about procedures, payment plans, and other details regarding this special ministry of the Sisters of St. Basil. 19

GUIDELINES FOR PROCESSIONS A Pilgrimage is a journey, a journey to a holy place, a shrine or a place where people have had deep experiences of God s presence. Within the experience of Pilgrimage, there are other smaller journeys journeys that we call Processions. Processions are not simply something on the way to a liturgical service; they are already an integral part of the service. It is important to maintain behavior that reflects the sacred purpose of the Procession. This includes: Walk at a slow but continuous pace. Process directly do not stop to speak with people along the way. Join in singing or just meditate in silence. Do not talk. Please, do not chew gum or bring any food or beverage. Dress appropriately (no halter tops, short shorts or similar attire) Electronic devices (cell phones, ipods, etc.) should be turned off and never used during processions and liturgical services 20

GUIDELINES FOR PROCESSIONS (continued) When the Procession reaches the shrine, follow the instructions of the director or ushers to your designated seating area. Remember, in a Procession you are already participating in a liturgical experience, and your decorum should express the dignity that our Byzantine Tradition evokes. At the conclusion of the service, observe the same decorum until the Procession reaches its conclusion. 21

TO THOSE ATTENDING THE PILGRIMAGE 22 WE PRESUME that by your presence on these grounds of Mount Saint Macrina at this time of the Annual Pilgrimage, you come here to participate in the spiritual program prepared to honor the Mother of God in a special manner during these days. WE FURTHER PRESUME that by your presence here, you want to be a source of edification and good example to other pilgrims, that you will dress accordingly, and that your acts will be such that you will bear out our presumptions. WE FURTHER PRESUME that since your intention on entering these grounds is to make the Pilgrimage, you will be willing to correct your conduct or your dress if the Directors should find you wanting, and that failure to do so when properly requested will result in your being asked to leave this place of prayer and meditation. The judgment of the Directors in these matters is final.

The setting up of any special booths or tents, soliciting, or any distribution of materials, is not permitted without the express consent of the Sisters of Saint Basil the Great. IT IS A VIOLATION OF THE FEDERAL LAW TO WILLFULLY AND DELIBERATELY INTERFERE WITH A RELIGIOUS SERVICE. For the purpose of clarity, we consider this Annual Pilgrimage you are attending to be a continuous religious service from its opening to its closing.
