AUGUST: A MONTH OF NEW BEGINNINGS Dear Red Oak Family, I greet all of you in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am so thankful how God is prophetically manifesting here at Red Oak. The Bible says, The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Lord s Spirit is, there is freedom. 2 Cor. 3:17) The Spirit of God is moving up and down the pews, in the isles and on the heart of every believer. As I mentioned before, we have been tasked by God to exhibit radical faith in this season of ministry as God does new things in our church and for this community so that we may transform the world. We have embarked upon a great partnership with our community school, Red Oak Elementary! Intercessory prayer for the students, administration and staff is our daily focus. In addition, we will engage in extra curricula involvement with the afterschool program as well as mentorship. On Sunday, July 29 one day prior to the reopening of the school year 24 of ROUMC prayer warriors met at the school to pray, anoint every door, the entry ways, desk and chairs. We experienced a mighty move of God! Therefore, we continue to build community relationships and leave an indelible presence through word, worship and witness. August Homecoming 2018 celebrate good times COME ON! Our theme is: A Family United in Praise. Surely there is excitement in the atmosphere. When preparation meets opportunity success manifests. Let us adhere to what we have been ask to do and support OUR revival through prayer, worship and giving. In Humble Service, WORD* WORSHIP* WITNESS* WATCH GOD MOVE!

EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT AUGUST, 2018 The month of July was both eventful and productive. We have changed our name from Operations Team to Executive Leadership Team to better describe our purpose within ROUMC. The July 10 Town Hall meeting was well attended and participation was encouraging and supportive of the agenda as presented by Pastor McCastle. Her stated emphasis was "Where there is vision, the people prosper." She further emphasized the need for a ROUMC Strategic Plan. The plan encompasses three points: 1. Intentionality 2. Accountability 3. Transformation Reverend Sutton then presented an overview of the programs for our young children to young adults. The follow-up Questions and Answers pointed out membership concerns. The concerns are 1. Parking lot repaving and striping 2. Purchase of the land adjacent to the Family Life Center 3. Security for the church 4. Website information and rebranding 5. Membership increase These concerns are being actively addressed now. Thank you for your attendance and positive participation. July 28, the team had its first official meeting with the pastor. Among the items discussed were the steps being taken to pursue the land purchase; the efforts underway to begin live streaming of Sunday services; Nominations and Leadership Development recruitment efforts; and Red Oak website rebuilding. Our partnership with Red Oak Elementary School was also discussed. Pastor McCastle had met previously with the principal, Dr. Sylvia Rose, to discuss ways in which our involvement might be increased. Mentoring/tutoring and after school programs were mentioned. Red Oak committed to visiting the school after the July 29 Sunday service to pray and anoint all classroom doors. A total of 24 prayer warriors to include clergy and laity participated in this endeavor. It was an awesome spiritual moment! We believe by faith that wonderful things will happen there this 2018-2019 school year. To God be the Victory!!!

August 2018 Finance Corner Newsletter The finance team has completed its 2018 Red Oak United Methodist Church (ROUMC) semi-annual review of the 2018 budget. Our actual total income (income from all sources) for the first six (6) months was $198,063 or 50% of our approved budget and our actual total expenses were $198,417 or 50 % of our approved budget. We only spent $354 more than we collected within the first two quarters of this year. We are very pleased with our mid-year accomplishments. We raised $137,749 or 42% (of our budget) in tithes and offering along, plus an additional $14,092 in online giving for a total of $151,841 or 46% (of the 2018 budget) in total tithes and offering. The only two (2) committees/ministries that exceeded its budget for the first two (2) quarters were: 1) administration (105%) and 2) worship (85%). These increases were necessary due to the changes we have encountered. However, we will strive to keep spending to what is needed and at a minimum for the next two quarters. Calendars are now available from the finance committee of our 2018 Calendar Tea. The cost of these calendars is $10.00 and maybe purchased from any member of the finance team. Remember, these calendars are from July 2018 to June of 2019. Please get your tea calendar now while they are still available. The finance team is getting ready to start drafting our preliminary 2019 budget. Finance has met and held discussions with some of our committees and ministries on where you are with your 2018 spending and budget balances. We plan to meet with the remaining committees and ministries soon. Let us remember our financial obligations; we need to raise $7,616 per week or $33,000 per month to pay all of our monthly bills. We have done an outstanding job so far this year, let us continue this race! Thank you, Finance Team
