MESSIAH MESSENGER Published by MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH www.messiahsouth.org Phone: 570-326-9171 e-mail address: messiahoffice@comcast.net August 29, 2018 VOL. 76 NO. 34 YOU ARE THE CHURCH!!! You are the church. The bricks and mortar, the pews and all that goes to make the building are not the church. The church is YOU!! You are the Church. Its strength and its weaknesses are revealed in you. What you are, the church is also. You are the Church. The power of its devotion to God, truth and humanity is the measure of your devotion. You are the Church. The inspiration of its services is the test of your heart. Its stated hours of worship are your obligation. If you fail here, to that extent your failure is expressed in the church. You are the church. Yours is its faith. Its worship is expressed through you. No one can take your place. God s Blessings! See you in Church! Pastor Josh

Food Pantry Needs. **JELLY** (PLEASE, we have peanut butter but no jelly) Ramen Noodles Egg Noodles Soup (please, no tomato soup or broth) Morningstar, Sanctuary Choir, Celebration Ringers, the Chime Choir all need you!! When I prompt people to join, they generally tell me they cannot sing. However, I hear you sing when we process, recess, or when you are "on" as a service assistant. So what's the deal? I know I have a reputation as being a nasty taskmaster with a low boiling point, but I have been taking anger management courses and feel I have that aspect of my personality under control, if not most of the time, at least some of the time. All kidding aside, our music programs are aging with very few young members filling in the ranks. There is a commitment of one-hour rehearsal and worship service per week. It is very a rewarding and fulfilling experience. You think you can't but you really can. PLEASE COME SING!! Tuesdays at 4 PM, beginning on September 4 for Morningstar Choir, Thursdays at 6:30 for Celebration Ringers and 7:30 PM for Sanctuary Choir beginning September 6! CALLING ALL YOUTH!
