Ebenezer Lutheran Church Port Hudson The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod 9100 Highway YY Leslie, Missouri Parsonage 573-459-6432 Church 573-459-6431 Rev. William F. Zastrow, Pastor Mary Sprick, Secretary ebenezerlutheran@hotmail.com ebenezerlutheranchurch.wordpress.com Trinity Sunday "The Blessed Trinity" AS WE GATHER: There is only one day in the Church Year that intentionally identifies and expounds upon a specific doctrine of the Church---that day is the Feast of the Holy Trinity. On Trinity Sunday the liturgy in its proclamation focuses on the divine mystery of the Triune God---Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Throughout the centuries of the Christian Church the confession of the Holy Trinity has been a hallmark of faithful believers. In the order of worship today we sing of the Trinity and, in the profound words of the Athanasian Creed, confess the Holy Trinity to be the one true God. PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP: Almighty Creator and everliving God: we worship your glory, eternal Three-in-One, and we praise your power, majestic One-in-Three. Keep us steadfast in this faith, defend us in all adversity, and bring us at last into your presence, where you live in endless joy and love, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. 2

DIVINE SERVICE OPENING HYMN Come, O Almighty King LW 169 INVOCATION and OPENING SENTENCES Pastor: In the name of the Father and the + Son and the Holy Spirit. People: Amen. Pastor: Blessed be the Holy Trinity and the undivided Unity; People: Let us give glory to Him because He has shown mercy to us. Pastor: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; People: The whole earth is full of His glory. (Liturgical text, Isaiah 6:3b) CONFESSION and ABSOLUTION Pastor: Let us come before God in true repentance, seeking His mercy and forgiveness. People: Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all people, we admit and confess our sinfulness. We have turned away from each other in our thinking, speaking, and doing. We have done the evil You forbid and have not done the good You demand. We do repent and are truly sorry for these our sins. Have mercy on us, kind Father, because of the obedience of our Brother, Jesus Christ, Your Son. Forgive us all 3

that is past, and with the power of the Holy Spirit move us to serve You faithfully. Set our feet upon the new path of life, and build Your kingdom here on earth through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Pastor: God has promised forgiveness to those who repent of their sins and turn to Him. Therefore, as a called and ordained servant of the Word I forgive you all of your sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. May He keep you in His grace by the Holy Spirit, lead you to greater faith and obedience, and bring you to live with Him forever, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. People: Amen. SEASONAL HYMN "The Faith We Confess" (Sung to Old 124th LW 313) This is the faith, the faith that we confess: That God is infinite in blessedness - The Father, Son, and Spirit, one in three And three in one in perfect Unity. Each of the persons of the Trinity Is uncreated from eternity. The Father, Son, and Spirit, God and Lord Through time and space eternally adored. The faith that in this creed is said anew From time forever has been and is true. The Triune God, the Lord of pow'r and might 4

We now confess in doctrine pure and right. (The congregations stands) This is the faith, the faith that we confess That God is infinite in blessedness.
