A place for faith and fellowship with family and friends. Rev. Mike Winters Pastor Ben Harding Music Director Dr. Ray Jones, Jr. Pastor Emeritus WISE BAPTIST NEWS Dear church family and friends, A PUBLICATION FOR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF WISE BAPTIST CHURCH We are all teachers and learners. You may not think of yourself as a teacher. You may not stand in front of students in a classroom, but you are still a teacher. You are in a position to share information, examples and life experiences that can benefit someone else. In that way, you are a teacher. We are all learners. Knowledge stretches our understanding, our perspective and gives us skills we need in life. The learning should continue long after our official graduation from any school. Jesus calls His followers disciples. Disciple means learner. Jesus was (and is) the Master Teacher. He taught His followers. He continues to teach His followers today. I Tim. 2:2 reads what you have heard from Me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others. In this single verse we see the pattern of teacher to student ( what you have heard from Me ). It does not stop there. Then, the student becomes the teacher. In a world consumed by fear, anger, and hate, we have a message taught to us by our Teacher. The lessons are not always obvious and at times, may not even appear to be true. Love overcomes hate. Hope overcomes despair. Faith overcomes fear. We cannot live or teach about this kind of love, hope, and faith out of our own limited resources. We need the help of the One Who lived these ideas perfectly. As we follow Him, we take up the life path that expresses these important ideas. Let s change the world, one person at a time. It must start with us as we learn and live what Jesus taught. Then, as we go, we can teach others. One person can make a difference. Love, Pastor Mike How to Join Wise Baptist Church: Express one of the following to the Pastor during the closing hymn: Transfer of Letter Transfer membership to Wise Baptist Church Baptism Desire to express faith in Christ through baptism Statement of Faith Baptized believer not on a membership roll Watch Care Desire to be connected to our Church family without official membership September 26, 2017 Important Dates SON Golf Tournament September 30, 8am Deacons Meeting October 1, 8:30am Holy Communion October 1, 11am Jump Rope Project October 1, 3-6pm BCM Meal October 2, 11am-1pm Missions Committee October 4, 5pm Deacon Ordination for John Mark Adrian October 8, 11am Bazaar October 8, 12pm WMU Fall Meeting October 8, 3pm Inside Announcements Page 2-3 BDays/Anniv.
