Love Poems to Master Kirpal Singh Part 2

-1- If I die, don t say that he died. Say he was dead, became alive, and was taken by the Beloved. (Rumi) Brethren, my rest is in my solitude, and my Beloved is ever in my presence. Nothing for me will do but love of Him; by love of Him I am tested in this world. Wherever I am I contemplate His beauty. O Thou, ever my joy, my life, from Thee is my existence and my ecstasy. From all creation I have turned away, for union with Thee my desired end. (Rabia)

-2- My soul is like a young doe-eyed maid with lips still bruised from last night s Divine Passion but my Master makes me live like a humble servant when any king would trade his throne for the splendor my eye can see. (Hafiz) O Master, to find You is my desire, but to comprehend You is beyond my strength. Remembering You is solace to my sorrowing heart; thoughts of You are my constant companions. I call upon You night and day. The flame of Your Love glows in the darkness of my night. (Ansari of Herat) In countless births have I wandered away and away from Thee. This birth I have dedicated to Thee and staked on Thee; I now live in hope to meet Thee once again. (Ravidas)

-3- You have taken me as Your partner of all this wealth. In my heart is the endless play of Your delight. In my life Your Will is ever taking shape. And for this, You, who are the King of kings, have decked Yourself in beauty to captivate my heart. (Tagore) O Lord - You have seduced me. I was seduced. (Into Great Silence) The world is happy with the intoxication of wine, but I have drunk deep from the fountain of love and devotion. Day and night I am intoxicated with its bliss (Mirabai)

-4- Spiritual delights comes from You and it is for You to give or to withhold them. But this my sorrow is absolutely my own, and when I bring it to You as my offering You reward me with Your Grace. (Tagore) Love means that all loves but love of the Beloved fall away from the heart. (Al-Junayd) If I know what love is, it is because of You. (Herman Hesse)

-5- Love is a fire in the heart that burns up all but the Beloved s wishes. (Traditional) You have love for me, and I appreciate it. Many do have love, but they do not obey. Do not waste your precious opportunity in love of this kind. I wish that you should benefit fully from the Priceless Jewel you have been given, and your love should be in this alone: whatever is told to you obey. (Sant Kirpal Singh) The Master s love cannot be more or less. For Him the very beginning and the end are the same; it is a closed circle. His love for the disciple does not go on increasing; for the disciple, of course, it is very different; he has to complete the whole circle. As the disciple progresses he feels the Master nearer and nearer, as the time goes on. But the Master is not nearer; He was always near, only the disciple did not know it. (Bhai Sahib)

-6- When the lover is annihilated in Love his love becomes one with the Love of the Beloved, and then there is no bird and no wings, and his flight and love to God are by God s love to him. (Najm Al-Din Kubra) How do I love Thee? Let me count the ways. I love Thee to the depth and breath and height my soul can reach. (Elizabeth Barrett Browning) Before I made you in your mother's womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work," says the Lord. (Jeremiah)

-7- Please grant me a vision of Your beautiful form. The spark You have kindled, make it everlasting. I think of no other, and in Your Love care for none else. None has a place in my heart but You. My heart has become Your abode; It has no place for another. (Ansari of Herat) "I have carried you since you were born; I have taken care of you from your birth. Even when you are old, I will be the same. Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you. I made you and will take care of you," says the Lord. (Isaiah)

-8- What madness has seized me because of You? What is this tumult in my soul that You have instilled? Because of You I am in a state of disarray. It s not my norm to behave this way. (Attar) I pray to meet Thee Beloved. When will Thou meet Thy humble maid, Mira? As the dawn in beauty breaks, I move out, every day, to seek Thee! Ages have I spent in quest of Thee, Beloved! My eyes do ache for a sight of Thee! When, O when will Thou come, Beloved? (Mirabai) The face of each beauty is the reflection of His face; The fragrance and color of each garden are His. (Shah Niaz)

-9- Show Your face so I can marvel at it, for that is what I yearn for in this world! Without Your face my Belief is Unbelief. With Your presence my Unbelief is Belief! My heart is sad without union with You. Make me happy as without You I am sad. (Iraqi) We have passed our lives in search of the face of the Friend; Who can find a moment s rest without seeing the face of the Friend? It matters not if the whole world in enmity turns away. We will from our Beloved s door never turn away. (Amir Khusrow Dehlavi)

-10- O Master, You are so gracious. After all these years You still remember who I am: the one who wears the dust of Your door like a crown. Tell me, who taught You to be so generous to Your slaves? O Holy Bird, please bless this Path I m on, for I m new to this traveling, and it s a long way I have to go. O morning breeze, take my prayers to the Master, and tell Him that each day I am on my knees at dawn. (Hafiz) If I had to choose between loving you and breathing I would use my last breath to say I love you.

-11- Since I received Your gift of Love my task has become difficult, my Love. Water pours out of my eyes; there is a fire in my heart, my Love. (Attar) Love is the power of God that binds two souls and makes them one; there is no power on earth that can dissolve that bond. (The Aquarian Gospel) When the mind is consumed with remembrance of Him something divine happens to the heart that shapes the hand and tongue and eye into the word Love. (Hafiz)

-12- God can only be known through the Master. If you are being merged into the Master, you will know God. Only the Master is important for you. Only the Master. The Divine Master is complete in every way. By simply becoming like Him one becomes complete in every way. (Bhai Sahib) The saint is a fragrant plant placed in the earth by God. The truthful take in His fragrance and it comes into their hearts so that they long for their Master. (Yahya Ibn Mu Adh Ar-Razi) Absence is to love what wind is to fire; it puts out the little and kindles the great. (Roger de Busy-Rabutin)

-13- In the morning when I began to wake, it happened again that feeling that You, Beloved, had stood over me all night keeping watch, that feeling that as soon as I began to stir You put Your lips on my forehead and lit a Holy Lamp inside my heart. (Hafiz) We can perhaps learn to prepare for love. We can welcome its coming, we can learn to treasure and cherish it when it comes, but we cannot make it happen. We are elected into love. (Irene Claremone de Castillejo) Love s gift cannot be given, it waits to be accepted. (Rabindranath Tagore) As I walk through the beauty of this world praising Your name, not to white rose, red narcissus, or lovely tulip am I drawn but only to Your face. (Hafiz)

-14- I am a tethered falcon with great wings and sharp talons poised, every sinew taut, like a Sacred Bow, quivering at the edge of my Self and Eternal Freedom, though still held in check by a miraculous Divine Golden Cord. Beloved, I am waiting for You to free me into Your Mind and Infinite Being. I am pleading in absolute helplessness to hear, finally, Your words of grace: Fly! Fly into Me! (Hafiz) My heart sits on the arm of God like a tethered falcon suddenly unhooded. I am now blessedly crazed because my Master s astounding effulgence is in constant view. My piercing eyes, which have searched every world for tenderness and love, now lock on the Royal Target - the Wild Holy One whose beauty illuminates existence! (Hafiz)

-15- That I want You, only You - let my heart repeat without end. All desires that distract me, day and night, are false and empty to the core. As the night keeps hidden in its gloom the petition for light, even thus in the depth of my unconsciousness rings the cry - I want You, only You. (Tagore) Al-Junayd was asked, What makes the lover weep when he meets the Beloved? He answered, This is only because of his great joy over Him and because of the ecstasy born of his great longing for Him. I have heard the story of two brothers who embraced after a long separation. One of them cried, Ah, what longing! The other responded, Ah, what ecstasy! The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed. (J. Krishnamurti)

-16- If it is not my portion to meet You in this my life then let me ever feel that I have missed Your sight let me not forget for a moment, let me carry the pangs of this sorrow in my dreams and in my wakeful hours. (Tagore) Meritless as I am, I intensely pray for my turn, O Nanak. All the spouses had Thee in abundance, spare a night for me as well. (Guru Amar Das) They do not love who do not show their love. (William Shakespeare)

-17- I know You as my God and stand apart - I do not know You as my own and come closer. I know You as my father and bow before Your feet - I do not grasp Your hand as my friend. Master, I shall weave a chain of pearls for Your neck with my tears of sorrow. The stars have formed their anklets of light to deck Your feet, but mine will hang upon Your breast. (Tagore) Your worshipper of old wanders ever longing for favor still refused. Day passes by after day and You are not seen. If I call You not in my prayers, If I keep You not in my heart, Your love for me still waits for my love. (Tagore) When we are not in love too much, we are not in love enough.

-18- When I go from here let this be my parting word, that what I have seen is unsurpassable. (Tagore) Born at the banquet of the gods, love has of necessity been eternally in existence, for it springs from the intention of the Soul towards its best, towards the Good; and as long as the Soul has been love has been. (Plotinus)

-19- Our desire for God is fanned by His love: It is His attraction that draws all wayfarers along the Path. Does dust rise up without a wind? Does a ship float without the sea? (Rumi) Since love grows within you, so beauty grows. For love is the beauty of the soul. (Saint Augustine) I am nearer to you than yourself to yourself. (Rumi)

-20- Love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that our love will produce love in the loved person. Love is an act of faith, and whoever is of little faith is also of little love. (Erich Fromm) It is possible that a man can be so changed by love as hardly to be recognized as the same person. (Terence) Because of Your love I have broken with my past. (Rumi) My bounty is as boundless as the sea, my love as deep; The more I give to thee, the more I have, for both are infinite. (William Shakespeare) There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved. (George Sand)

-21- I ve been dead to this world for a long time. Every day my body grows weaker and soon it will return to the earth. It s not difficult to renounce this life or this world, but to give up Your love, that is difficult - no, impossible. (Rumi) For the lovers of God, He alone is the source of all joy and sorrow. He alone is the true object of desire; every other kind of love is idle infatuation. Love for God is that flame which, when it blazes, burns away everything except God. Love for God is a sword which cuts down all that is not of God. God alone is eternal; all else will vanish. (Rumi) From my first breath I have longed for Him. This longing has become my life. This longing has seen me grow old. (Rumi)

-22- When I was separated from You, I closed my eyes to the world; but hope of our union has given me back my life. From now on, I ll go to no one else s door, for You are the only one I want to see. I have learned how to pray, and now I can talk to You both night and day. (Hafiz) The Lover s love is apparent, his Beloved hidden. The Friend is absent, his signs are everywhere. (Rumi) The great tragedy of life is not that men perish, but that they cease to love. (W. Somerset Maugham)

-23- Between the lover and the Beloved there must be no veil. Thou thyself art thine own veil, Hafiz get out of the way! When you love you should not say, God is in my heart, but rather, I am in the heart of God. (Kahlil Gibran) O Master, give me that right discrimination that the lure of the world may cheat me no more. (Ansari of Herat)

-24- The One I longed for has come home, the raging fire of separation is quenched; now I rejoice with Him, I sing in bliss. I dance with unbound joy; I rejoice in ecstasy at the sight of my Beloved. I am absorbed in His love; my misery of wandering in the world has ended. The lily bursts into bloom at the sight of the full moon; seeing Him my heart blossoms joy. Peace permeates this body of mine, His arrival has filled my home with bliss. Mira s heart, scorched by the blaze of separation, has become cool and refreshed; the pain of duality has vanished. (Mirabai) Hafiz himself is singing tonight in resplendent glory, for the cup in my heart has revealed the Beloved s face, and I have His oath that He will never again depart. (Hafiz)

-25- From the beginning of my life I have been looking for Your face, but today I have seen it! Today I have seen the charm, the beauty, the unfathomable grace of the face I was looking for. Today I have found You, and those who laughed and scorned me yesterday are sorry that they were not looking as I did. (Rumi) My soul is mingled with Thee, dissolved in Thee, A soul to cherish as it has Thy perfume! (Rumi)

May your soul be happy; journey joyfully. (Rumi) Kirpalct@yahoo.com HOME: http://kirpalsingh.org/index.html
