Jesus Our Savior His Life and His Work
The life of Jesus, God our Savior, is written in the first four New Testament books called the Gospels. The Gospel means good news, Jesus Saves. The four men described below, were inspired by God to write about Jesus life on earth so all mankind may gain from a firsthand description of Jesus purpose in coming to earth, his birth, family, work, teaching method, conversations, responses, followers, opposition, warnings, and his commands. St. Matthew A tax collector for Rome; called to be 1 of 12 Disciples, St. Mark Young follower, is believed to have written as told by Peter; Peter was 1 of 12 Disciples St. Luke A medical doctor and companion of Apostle of Paul; Luke also recorded in Acts the events surrounding Jesus resurrection and the newly established church St. John The writer of Revelation, I, II, and III John; John was 1 of 12 Disciples
The Roman Empire Rome rose to power 400 years before Jesus was born. Roman government occupied Jerusalem at time Jesus was born.
Born 3AD Jesus, the Jewish Messiah or King was born near city of Jerusalem. MATTHEW 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-20 Baptized 30AD Jesus announced his faith, and was baptized. Holy Spirit came to him and God said this my son in whom I am well pleased. Matthew 3:13-18; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-23 Tempted Jesus endured 40 days of testing as a human after his baptism. Spiritual Kingdom King Jesus was born to set up God s Spiritual Kingdom, government. Matthew 4:17 Isaiah 9:1-7 Great Commandment The first requirement for membership in the Spiritual Kingdom. Law The Measurement that Defines Kingdom Law Violations or Sin Matthew 5:17 Grace of God The gift that frees mankind from guilt of sin. It was paid for by Jesus death. It saves the soul of only those who accept the gift; grace cancels their eternal death and separation from God. Matthew 9:13 The Master Teacher Jesus taught using earthly stories, parables, with a Kingdom of God meaning Matthew 13; Mark 4; Luke 8:4
Transfigured Peter, James and John saw what Jesus body would be like after his resurrection. Resurrected Jesus rose from dead, after 3 days, conquering all sin, of all mankind. Return to Earth Jesus said he will come back for his followers. He said no one knows when. He warned us to be ready for his return. He said accept his death as payment for the penalty of your sin and be saved. When you do, the Holy Spirit comes into your heart and give you the power to obey God. Be ready. St. Matthew 24, 25; St. Mark 13:1-37; St. Luke 21:5-36 Church Jesus established the church following his transfiguration, before his death. The church is people who believe Jesus died and saved them from sin and eternal separation from God. Jesus is the head of the Church and will return for it. Be ready. Accept Him as Savior.
