Kingdom of God Q & A NOTES: Not all verses are listed for a topic. Further Bible study will reveal much more. Study the context of the suggested verses for more information. Question Answer Scripture NASB What is the gospel message? The gospel message is of a coming kingdom on earth established by God in fulfillment of the prophecy to David. 2 Samuel 7:12-14a Matthew 9:35 Matthew 24:13-14 Romans 1:16 1 Corinthians 15:1, 21-24 Ephesians 1:13-14 When your [David s] days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me. 2 Samuel 7:12-14a Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness. Matthew 9:35 But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:13-14 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.... For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ s at His coming, then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. 1 Corinthians 15:1, 21-24 In him [Christ], you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation having also believed, you were sealed in him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God s own possession, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:13-14 Kingdom of God Q&A 1 KOGmissions.com

What is the hope of the believer? The believer s hope is resurrection to immortality, reigning with Jesus, and living with God forever. 1 Corinthians 15:50-53 Revelation 20:4, 6 Revelation 21:3-4 Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:50-53 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.... Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. Revelation 20:4, 6 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away. Revelation 21:3-4 What is the Kingdom of God? The Kingdom of God (also Kingdom of heaven) is a kingdom (governmental system) that God sets up in place of the kingdoms of mankind. The Kingdom of God is the earthly reign of Jesus as well as the eternal reign of God which follows. 2 Samuel 7:12-14a Daniel 2:44 Daniel 7:13-14 1 Corinthians 15:24-25 Other verses: Revelation 11:15 Revelation 20:4, 6 Revelation 21:1, 3 When your [David s] days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me. 2 Samuel 7:12-14a In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. Daniel 2:44 Kingdom of God Q&A 2 KOGmissions.com

I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven one like a Son of Man was coming, and he came up to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. And to him was given dominion, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and men of very language might serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away; and his kingdom is one which will not be destroyed. Daniel 7:13-14 Then comes the end, when [Jesus] hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when he has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 1 Corinthians 15:24-25 Who is the ruler of the Kingdom of God? Jesus, God s Anointed One (Messiah, Christ), the Son of God and Son of Man, will rule until he hands the kingdom over to God after a thousand years. Psalm 2:6-8 Luke 1:31-33 Luke 22:29-30 1 Corinthians 15:24-25, 28 But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain. I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, You are My Son, today I have begotten you. Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as your possession. Psalm 2:6-8 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David; and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end. Luke 1:31-33 And just as my Father has granted me [Jesus] a kingdom, I grant you that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Luke 22:29-30 Then comes the end, when [Jesus] hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when he has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:24-25, 28 Kingdom of God Q&A 3 KOGmissions.com

What is the major teaching of Jesus and the Apostles? The major teaching of Jesus and the Apostles was the Kingdom of God. Matthew 4:23 Luke 4:43 Luke 9:1-2 Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people. Matthew 4:23 Acts 8:12 Other verses: Luke 8:1 Acts 19:8 Acts 28:23, 30-31 But [Jesus] said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose. Luke 4:43 And [Jesus] called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. And he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing. Luke 9:1-2 But when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, men and women alike. Acts 8:12 When will the Kingdom of God be established on earth? The Kingdom of God begins after the fourth kingdom (of mankind) of prophecy and when Jesus returns. Matthew 25:31 Daniel 2:44 Daniel 7:23-27 But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Matthew 25:31 In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. Daniel 2:44 Thus he said: The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth and tread it down and crush it. As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings. He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. But the court will sit for judgment, and his dominion will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed forever. Then the sovereignty, the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints of the Highest One; His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him. Daniel 7:23-27 Kingdom of God Q&A 4 KOGmissions.com

What key event must take place before Jesus returns? Before Jesus returns, the abomination of desolation must be set up. Daniel 9:26-27 Daniel 12:11-12 Matthew 24:15, 21, 29-31 Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate. Daniel 9:26-27 From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 day. How blessed is he who keeps waiting and attains to the 1,335 days! Daniel 12:11-12 Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),... For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.... But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the starts will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And he will send forth his angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. Matthew 24:15, 21, 29-31 How long does the Kingdom of God last? Jesus initial reign lasts 1,000 years before he hands the government to God for eternity. Revelation 20:4, 6 1 Corinthians 15:24-25, 28 2 Samuel 7:12b- 14a Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. Revelation 20:4, 6 Kingdom of God Q&A 5 KOGmissions.com

Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when he has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.... When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to him, so that God may be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:24-25, 28 I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me. 2 Samuel 7:12b- 14a Who will reign with Jesus for a thousand years? Believers resurrected in the first resurrection will reign with Jesus for a thousand years. Revelation 20:4, 6 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. Revelation 20:4, 6 What will believers do with Jesus for a thousand years? Believers will reign and rule the nations with Jesus for a thousand years. Revelation 20:4, 6 Daniel 12:3 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. Revelation 20:4, 6 Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Daniel 12:3 Kingdom of God Q&A 6 KOGmissions.com

What will be happening during Jesus thousandyear reign? Jesus reign will be a time of renewal. During his reign, Jesus will deliver the earth from the curse, destroy all wickedness including death itself, restore the earth to its original perfection, and rule over the nations of the earth. Matthew 19:28-29 Acts 3:19-21 Micah 4:2-4 1 Corinthians 15:24-26 Psalm 2:7-9 Other verses: Isaiah 11 Isaiah 35 And Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for my name s sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:28-29 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time. Acts 3:19-21 Many nations will come and say, Come and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD And to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us about His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For from Zion will go forth the law, even the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And He will judge between many peoples and render decisions for mighty, distant nations. Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nation will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they train for war. Each of them will sit under his vine and under his fig tree, with no one to make them afraid, for the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken. Micah 4:2-4 Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when he has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death. 1 Corinthians 15:24-26 I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, You are My Son, today I have begotten you. Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron, you shall shatter them like earthenware. Psalm 2:7-9 Kingdom of God Q&A 7 KOGmissions.com

Where will be the capital during Jesus reign? The capital during the thousand years will be in Jerusalem on Mount Zion. Psalm 2:4-6 Micah 4:1-2 Jeremiah 3:17 He who sits in the heavens laughs, the Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury, saying, But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain. Psalm 2:4-6 And it will come about in the last days that the mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains. It will be raised above the hills, and the peoples will stream to it. Many nations will come and say, Come and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD and to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us about His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For from Zion will go forth the law, even the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Micah 4:1-2 At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the LORD, and all the nations will be gathered to it, to Jerusalem, for the name of the LORD; nor will they walk anymore after the stubbornness of their evil heart. Jeremiah 3:17 How much of the world will Jesus rule in his kingdom? Messiah Jesus kingdom will include all nations of the entire world. Psalm 2:7-9 Daniel 2: 35, 44 Daniel 7:14, 27 I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, You are My Son, today I have begotten you. Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron, you shall shatter them like earthenware. Psalm 2:7-9 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were crushed [a] all at the same time and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away so that not a trace of them was found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.... In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. Daniel 2:35, 44 And to him was given dominion, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve him. the saints of the Highest One; his kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey him. Daniel 7:14, 27 Where will Satan be for the thousand years? Satan will be bound for the thousand years and imprisoned. Revelation 20:1-3 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. Revelation 20:1-3 What happens at the end of the thousand years? At the end of the thousand years, Satan (the devil) will be released for a little while. He will deceive and lead one last battle against Jesus before Satan is destroyed. Revelation 20:7-10 When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Revelation 20:7-10 What is the end of Satan? Satan and his angels will be thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:10 Matthew 25:41 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death. For he has put all things in subjection under his feet. But when He says, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to him. 1 Corinthians 15:23-27 What is the second resurrection? The second resurrection is a raising from the dead of all humanity for judgment.
