And we ask that He continues to bring about the healing and restoration necessary to allow us to focus on the right paths.

June 2011 Coastal Bend Emmaus, Chrysalis & Kairos Rejoice! Always be full of Joy in the Lord. I say it again rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon! Don t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7 NLT Beloved Brothers and Sisters of our Coastal Bend Emmaus Fourth Day Group, As many of you may know, we have recently experienced some organizational changes and challenges. There have been many and varied feelings about the way that things should be. Some feelings have contributed to our success in meeting these challenges while others have created gossip and division among us. Some of our words and actions have brought glory to God, and others have not. So we must remind ourselves that ultimately He is aware and in control, and ask ourselves how He would have us conduct ourselves. We pray God's spirit will simply speak to each of us individually about the attitude that we should choose and share with others. And we ask that He continues to bring about the healing and restoration necessary to allow us to focus on the right paths. We have learned that crossover service between Journey to Damascus and Walk to Emmaus groups is not permissible through our covenant with Upper Room Emmaus. This is not because there is a lack of love between groups. It is because there are things done differently and with different purpose in each group, and that creates some separation when attempting to combine team servants. Since we want to get away from those things that create conflict and confusion among us, going forward all Emmaus walk teams will be made up of Emmaus alumni*, as according to the Covenant. Please understand that we dearly love our Journey to Damascus brothers and sisters, and that this is a covenantal policy that we must abide. From The Upper Room Handbook on Emmaus: But if a group and its leaders have decided to be an Emmaus Community, that decision dictates that they present the distinctive Emmaus model. All future team servants will be required to attend Walk/Flight Leadership training. Times and dates will be coordinated by each team. Those serving on Kairos and Chrysalis can serve Emmaus, however it is recommended to do only one or the other per calendar year. (Continued on page 2) *alumni = Pilgrim walk was Emmaus

(Continued from page 1) There have been some untrue rumors spread that have brought harm to our community and leadership. We ask that this not be done any longer. Please make every effort to see that communication is honest, factual, and properly represents and supports Coastal Bend Emmaus and the experience that has made such a difference in our lives and hearts. When you speak or hear, please ask yourself: 1) Is this true? 2) Is this kind? 3) Is this necessary? 4) Will this glorify God? Here are some facts: Prayers are being answered! God is restoring unity among our community and leadership. At our Coastal Bend Emmaus meeting on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, a new Local Board was put in place. This was decided and voted on by our prior board, with the input and desires of our local community considered. This decision comes with the full support of our governing body, The Southwest Texas Conference (SWTC). SWTC has been very supportive to us through this process and have offered any resources and continued support necessary for our success. We are very grateful to them, are confident that we have a very healthy working relationship among this new leadership team. We all are absolutely committed to working together to facilitate healing in our Coastal Bend Emmaus through this new leadership. Philippians 4:8-9 NLT And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you have learned and received from me everything you learned from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Our focus at this juncture is simply to trust and listen to God s Wisdom and direction, focus on the health of Coastal Bend Emmaus, and prepare to give our future pilgrims the best walks ever! We are updating our local database and list of those who want to serve on teams. Please help us by completing and returning the enclosed form even if you think your information is current, we have gaps in the database. Also, jot down any questions, comments, or suggestions you may have. Please keep our leadership and community in your prayers as we work toward these new goals... Christ is counting on all of us!
