A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR GREETINGS FIRST CALVARY! 2018 is here.and here is the First Calvary Baptist Church Annual Calendar. This is a resource tool for every household that is a part of this Body of Faith. Put it somewhere prominent in your home to remind you of Church Functions and Ministry events. and then plan to be there! We greatly appreciate the hard work that our Visionary Ministry puts into making sure this project comes to fruition each year. This year, (and for the last 4 years maybe ) we will continue to move forward with the Church Theme, Developing and Leading Disciples Into Spiritual Excellence! I am convinced that this Church Theme is the ultimate direction that we need to mindfully move in each year. We use a very familiar passage of Scripture as the inspiration for this theme, Galatians 5: 22-25, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Along with this scriptural reference I would like to add Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Listen, Israel (First Calvary): The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Come, be a disciple that is being developed and led into Spiritual Excellence. Join us in Bible Study, Sunday School, and Noon Day Prayer each week. Let s Worship together on Sundays. Let s work and build together in Ministry. Find where you fit and SERVE. There are over 40 ministries at First Calvary surely you can find ONE to use your gifts and talents in and maybe 2. Come, grow with us! We ended last year with a series of sermons on Lessons Learned. What lessons have we learned, or are we learning, on this walk of Faith? As we live and grow in our relationships with Christ, the lessons we learn should push us closer to being more like Him. It is through His Love and Grace that we are able to be Joyful in January, Free in February, Miracles in March, Accepted in April, Mindful in May, Justified in June, Jubilant in July, Awestruck in August, Set apart in September, Open to Him in October, New Creations in November, and Delivered in December! He covers us and keeps us all year. Make a year-long commitment to learn a Godly Lesson in 2018. I promise, God will AMAZE you. First Calvary, as we enter our 27th Pastoral Year together, remember that Mrs. Davis and I love each of you.and also remember all throughout the year that we are AN EXCITING CHURCH EXCITED ABOUT ITS MISSION! Yours in That Blessed Hope! Fredrick A. Davis, Pastor pastor@firstcalvary.org www.firstcalvary.org CHURCH MISSION STATEMENT FCBC is a local body of Christ which seeks to empower the spiritual lives of the people of Durham and its vicinity.
