George Jacobs was born August 27, 1946 in Washington D.C. to the late Rosa Hite Jacobs and the late William (Bill) Jacobs. The family later relocated to Rich Square, NC where he attended W.S. Creecy School where he graduated. He relocated to Paterson, New Jersey in 1964, where he met his soon to be wife, Ruth Sturdivant. He later enlisted in the Army where he served for two years during the Vietnam Era and earned an honorably discharge. He then returned home and married his loving wife Ruth Sturdivant on June 28, 1969. From this union, they were blessed with two wonderful children, Felicia Jacobs Napier (Garrish) and George Jacobs, Jr. George worked for United States Postal Service for twenty-one years where he retired. He was known to the neighbors and young people as Mailman George. During his leisure time his passion was fishing. He also cherished and loved the moments he traveled back home to visit his mother every Mother s Day. She was very dear to his heart. George also loved to give advice to his nieces and nephews that would help them in life lessons. He loved his family. George was very handy with fixing cars for others. He also believed in pursing higher education that s why he choose to attend Passaic County Community College and also Passaic County Technical Institute. On the morning of January 10, 2013, our Heavenly Father called home George Jacobs. He allowed him to bless the world for sixty-six years before calling him back home to the creator. I m sorry I had to leave you. My loved ones, oh so dear. But you see, the Master called me, His voice was very clear! I had made my reservation A heaven bound ticket for one, And I knew that He would call me When He felt my work was done. I know that your hearts are heavy Because I have gone away, But when the Master called me, I knew that I could not stay. Yes, I m sorry I had to leave you My loved ones, oh so dear, But, you see, the Master called me And, now I m resting here. Yes, I ve crossed on over to glory And to you all I say Just stay in the hands of Jesus And we ll meet again someday. -Author unknown The family of the late George Jacobs wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to their family during this hour of bereavement. May God Bless and Keep You! A special thanks to: his caretaker Michelle McKinney and Alice Bennett, St. Joseph s Wayne Hospital, Crystal Care Nurses, Oak Ridge Rehabilitation, United Healthcare Services and Valley Home Care and Hospice of New Jersey.
