FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE NEWS Circle meeting on Tuesday, January 9 th will be at Marj Earnhart s at 7 pm, 663 Moul Rd. We will be discussing Sharing Supper menu, our spring shopping weekend, Cookie Exchange wrap up, a winter bus trip to New York City to see the Rockettes and other various items. Coffee, tea, water and dessert are always included along with a few bowls of chocolate and some healthy snacks. Call Marj, 392.6761 if you need a ride. Ed keeps the driveway clean and it is huge. In case you wonder who we are and what we do here is a brief overview: We meet on the second Tuesday of the month in a member s home. The meeting starts at 7 unless we are a little late. End time is whenever you need to leave, work or family often determines the time. Members include church family, friends and neighbors. There is a broad range of ages and interests. Education level varies, family circumstances vary, interest levels vary, jobs or lack of jobs vary. Our common denominator is the need to gather with women who support and care for each other. We laugh and cry during our meetings. We share our love of the Lord and our love for each other. There really isn t a formal meeting, we discuss whatever comes up. Our usual meeting meanders through things that need done, new items, and whatever comes to mind. Meander is a good word for our meetings. Things we do includes Fellowship Hall table decorations, cleaning the coat closet, update the Children Bags in the sanctuary, weed, trim, lay mulch, pick up leaves when weather permits, keep up the flower pots at the entrance door, support church family members as needed, a spring 2 day shopping trip, a 4 day summer retreat at Lake Bonaparte, a Veterans Day shopping frenzy, Christmas Cookie Exchange and program, and do things we see needing done. Members do what they can when they can. Circumstances often determine level of involvement. Women of all ages are welcome to attend and join in the fun and craziness. Dues include a warm heart and willingness to do what you can when you can. Please join us for a relaxing evening. Contact Marj Earnhart, 392.6761 or Liz Gliszczynski, 392.7691 with questions. 1
Treasurer s Executive Summary December 18th, 2017 As of December 18th, 2017 we had $2528.00 in the Quicken Checking Account. All received invoices have been paid. The Balance in the Quicken Account does reflect payroll being paid for the first half of December; with one final payroll payment due at the end of December. Key Financial Key points tracked; The Ministry Shares, Health premiums and Retiree premiums for the year of 2017 have been paid in FULL. This is the second consecutive year that we have met our Ministry Share commitments Great accomplishments!!!! All Repeating 2017 expenses and Church Mutual Insurances have been Paid. Sanctuary Project: A $5,000 payment to the Endowment fund has been made in December, leaving a balance of approximately $5,000 due to the Endowment fund loan. The Sanctuary fund drive still needs $2000 to meet our Target Goal. Reserve Fund: Over the past 3 years, we have been able to manage our yearly income and expenses to meet our needs and budgets but barely. History shows that we will have unexpected expenses to meet these unexpected expenses, the Church Council has established a Reserve Fund. This fund will be managed by the Church Council; and is intended to be used for unexpected major expenses, mainly Capital projects. The Reserve Fund will be funded by donations from the Church population. It will be a designated donation just as we do for the Endowment Fund. If you wish to donate to the Reserve Fund, it can be done via electronic donations or the existing Offering Envelopes please designate RESERVE FUND on the envelope. Communications: Since assuming the Treasurers position almost 5 year ago; I have used various communication formats in preparing the Treasurers report; Financial Spreadsheets, Financial Graphs, written communications, and a combination of all. I have changed the information presented as well, trying to provide what I believe is valuable information. I would appreciate feedback on what format you would prefer and what information you would like to see in this monthly Treasurers Report. This report is intended to give our Church Family an overview of our Financials I welcome suggestions. I will be publishing a 2017 Year End report in early January. Dennis Sneddon Treasurer 2
Thank You! Finance & Stewardship thanks all of you who support the ministries of Hilton United Methodist Church with your finances and talents. This was a very good year for HUMC. Because of each one of you, we did much better than many other churches during the recent depression. All of which would not have be possible without you! Coming this January, we will say Thank You with a congregation wide 1 st Annual Kingdom Investors Meeting. Please mark this on your calendar for Saturday January 27 th. More detail to follow! The current plan is to start this event with a presentation on the status and plans of Financial Stewardship and Ministries of HUMC followed by a catered dinner. 3

Sharing Suppers This program is an Missions project, reaching out to the community of the residents 1. who are on a limited budget, 2. those that are not members of a church family--a welcoming place to come and share a meal with others from the community, 3. those who live alone and would like company as they enjoy a meal, 4. those who just enjoy a nice meal But your help is needed to make this program a success--word of mouth is a great way to advertise much better than Facebook, ads in the Suburban news, signs posted around the community. You are the ones who will make a person aware and feel welcome. Please invite and bring a friend, neighbor or family member--introduce them to our outreach program, help them feel that this is welcoming building--a welcoming church. Help CHUMS: I asked the church family for volunteers to organize the CHUM luncheon--a cook, set up and clean up, callers--no one stepped forward. Now that Christmas is over and all the planning and preparing for that big holiday is over, please give it another thought.
