THIS MONTH... @UMCMerced Volume 17, Issue 7 July 2017 Peace Camp starts July 10 Sharing the liberating love of Jesus to empower and mobilize all in service for God. Peace Camp is a fun, free, exciting alternative to Summer Day Camp running July 10th through 14 th from 9:AM to 12:15PM here @UMCMerced. School-age children (entering Kindergarten through 6 th grade in the fall) take on different games, crafts, and projects that celebrate diversity and focus on what peace is, why peace is needed, and how to become a Peacemaker. Our hope is each child will come away at the end of Peace Camp realizing we are all special and need friends, and feeling empowered to take a stand as a Peacemaker! Helpers are still welcome. Contact Sonja Edd-Bennett or Jenni Durbin for more information. Page 2 @UMCMerced My husband is Bob and we have six children - Bruiser, our spoiled dog, and five cats. I am a massage therapist, an animal advocate, and a quilter. Membership Sunday June 4th, 2017 Kimberly Austin reaffirmation of faith Elizabeth McCabe transfer/reinstatement After a few years at Central Presbyterian Church, Liz is returning to UMCMerced. She recently celebrated 70 years of marriage to her husband, Les, and is the mother of five children - Lloyd, Susanne, Bill, Brian, and Bob. By profession of faith, transfer, or baptism, four new members joined our growing family @UMCMerced last month. Take a moment to say hello and welcome them to the church! On my grave marker, I would like it to say: Feathers, Petals, Fins & Fur. God Blessed me. I love animals and plants. I should have been Mrs. Noah so I could have cared for two of everything. Besides my fur friends I am an avid reader, baker & cook. Also joining by baptism/profession of faith... Laura Anne Jaimes Pamela McClellan reaffirmation of faith
Page 3 @UMCMerced Money Matter$ I can now report the numbers that are contained in the financial reports for the first five months of 2017 year-to-date. All income categories combined totaled $122,015 and, individually, most categories exceeded the budgeted amounts. When compared to the same month one year ago, total income increased by $86 or 0.1%. Total expenses of $127,792 were $968 below the amount budgeted for the first five months of 2017. Included in total expenses paid was $11,611 in conference tithing, which represents five-twelfths of the total due for 2017. Total expenses exceeded Total Income by $5,778. For the first five months, Pledged and Unpledged Income totals for the two categories combined were $8,783 more than the corresponding budgeted amounts. That result continues to be encouraging. Of course, we still need further additional giving to fully close the deficit in this year s budget. Let s keep praying! Remember, you can always find the most current financial report in the Fireside Room. For more detailed financial data, please feel free to contact me directly in person, by phone, or by email (larry@umcmerced.org).
