Personal reflection * Hymn Because He lives / Parce qu Il vit see below Offering is taken during hymn and brought to the Communion table 1. God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus; He came to love, heal and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives! CHORUS Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living, just because He lives! 2. How sweet to hold a newborn baby, And feel the pride and joy he brings; But greater still the calm assurance: This child can face uncertain days because He lives! CHORUS 3. And then one day, I'll cross the river, I'll fight life's final war with pain; And then, as death gives way to victory, I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives! REFRAIN (2x) Par-ce qu Il vit, je n ai rien à crain-dre Mes len-de-mains sont as-su-rés, Entre Ses mains, Il tient ma vi-e Pour ce temps et l é-ter-ni-té, je sais qu Il vit! COMMUNION LITURGY EASTER, MARCH 27th, 2016 page 1 P: The peace of the risen Christ is with you. C: And also with you. P: Let us pray, Lord of Life, C: You gave us the greatest gift of all, our Saviour Jesus Christ. We ask that you accept the gifts we bring: our goods, our time, our talents and ourselves. Use them as you want. P: Indeed, you are worthy of praise, especially on this Resurrection Day. Through Christ the faithful are in you who raised him from the dead and gave him glory. Our faith and hope are in you, O God. C: All praise and honour and glory is yours, O God! You rescue us from the power of death and give us life eternal. P: For the Lord is risen! C: Christ is risen indeed! P: We rejoice with all your people of every time and place to proclaim the glory of your name: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. It is Jesus, the Risen Christ, who joins us together as a community of broken but hopeful believers: loving what he loved, living what he taught, and striving to be his faithful servants in our time and place. In this meal we remember Jesus, his promises, and the price he paid for who he was, what he said and what he did. - 7 -
COMMUNION LITURGY EASTER, MARCH 27th, 2016 page 2 On the night before Jesus died, he took a loaf of bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said, Take and eat, whenever you do this, remember me. After supper, Jesus took the cup, and poured, saying, This is the new covenant, remember me. We do remember. We remember his life of love, his friendship, his teaching, his dying and his rising to life again. In sharing this meal, we live out the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. You bless this bread and this cup, the wheat and the grape, the farmer and the harvest, the seed and the sower. In the sharing of these simple elements in community, we may really meet you. Through Christ, in Christ, and with Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, God most holy, now and forever. Maranatha! Come Lord! Amen.
