Series at a Glance for Kid-O-Deo (continued) Lesson 1: Takin Care of the Land When God made this world, he gave us a job to do. We get to explore, learn about, and live in this world, but that also means we need to treat it well. This week, we ll hear the story of how God gave Adam and Eve an important job, and learn that taking care of our world is a wise choice. Lesson 2: Sayin Good Things Philemon wasn t sure what to do. His servant, Onesimus, had run away, but now he was back, with a letter from Paul. Paul was Philemon s friend, and now he was asking him to take Onesimus back, even though he had run away. Instead of commanding Philemon to do something, though, Paul encouraged him. Paul s letter to Philemon shows us that kind things are some of the most powerful things we can say. : Obeyin Your Ma and Pa God asked a man named Noah to do something that seemed really weird. Even though Noah lived in the desert, God told him to build a huge boat! This week, we ll talk about how we can learn from Noah s obedience to God, and make the wise choice to obey your parents. Lesson 4: Tellin the Truth Zacchaeus the tax collector wasn t known for telling the truth. In fact, he would lie about how much money he took from people and keep the extra for himself. All that changed, though, when Zacchaeus met Jesus. Because Jesus treated him like a friend, Zacchaeus saw how important it is to tell the truth, and it changed his life. Lesson 5: Spend Time Prayin A prophet named Ezra had a long journey ahead of him. He led a group of God s special people from Babylon back to their home in Jerusalem. Ezra knew the journey would be difficult, so he and God s special people prayed. We can learn from Ezra s example and make the wise choice to spend time with God too! Lesson 6: Helpin Around the Homestead Responsibility is a big, but very important word, that means doing what you are asked to do. Jesus told a story about being responsible. He showed that when you do your best, people will trust you with more. If we make a wise choice and do what we are asked to do, even little things like chores, we can be trusted with more! That s the wise choice of responsibility. 3

My name is. If this is your first time in Kid-O-Deo, we are extra happy that you are here with us! Today we will sing about God, hear a Bible story, learn how to be wisdom wranglers, and go Kid-O-Whampus together! Before we get started, let s practice saying the three rules we have here in Kid-O-Deo! Rule #1: When I m talking, you are listening! Everyone put on your listening ears, and on the count of three, let s practice listening! Rule #2: Keep your hands and feet to yourself! Do a little clap and place your hands in your lap! Rule #3: Stay in your spot! Let s take our special glue sticks and put some glue on our spot to help us stay in the right place! Nice job! Worship 3:00 Awesome! Kid-Os, we can learn a lot about being a good friend and family member in a special book called the Bible. Let s sing a song about the Bible now! It s time for the Bible Adventure! Bible Adventure Jingle Going on a Bible Adventure is awesome, but there s something special that every cowpoke needs for it! What do we really, really need for a Bible Adventure? A BIBLE! Do This: Show kids the Bible. Right! We need a Bible for our Bible Adventure! Kid-Os, I have another important question for you. Are the stories in the Bible real or pretend? REAL! Yes! What we read about in the Bible really, truly happened. Do This: Get the Bible storybook out and sit down in the chair. This story I m going to tell you comes from the Bible, but we use this storybook because the pictures help us imagine what it might have looked like back when the Bible was written. The pictures you see in here are the same as the ones on the screen. Settle in, wisdom wranglers, and let s get started! Do This: Have kids help you turn the pages on the screen with an exaggerated arm wave. Picture 1: Noah 6
There was once a man named Noah. He prayed a lot. Noah loved God and did the things God wanted him to do. Picture 2: Noah builds ark in the desert One day, God told Noah to do something really strange. God told Noah to build a big boat, called an ark. The reason this was so weird was because Noah lived in the desert. There were no lakes or oceans; there was no water anywhere close to him! Picture 3: Everyone getting on the ark God told Noah he needed to build the ark because there would be a terrible flood, and the ark would help save Noah s family and lots and lots of animals. Noah obeyed God and started building the ark. Picture 4: Ark in the water When it was complete, Noah, his family, and two of every kind of animal climbed aboard the ark. Soon, it started to rain. It rained and rained and rained and rained! Noah had made a wise choice by obeying God, because he, his family, and all the animals were saved! Series Title Slide: Kid-Os, that was a great story! Even though building an ark might have seemed like a weird thing to do, Noah obeyed God. Great job listening, wisdom wranglers! In a little bit, we re going to talk about how you can be obedient too, Kid-Os But for now, we ve finished the Bible Adventure and it s time to get on our horses and ride on over to the Memory Verse! Everyone stand up and get on your horses. On the count of three, everyone say, Yee Haw! One, two, three! YEE HAW! Do This: Imitate riding a horse and swinging a lasso. Kid-Os, let s all stand up on our feet and practice our Memory Verse! Do This: Practice the verse with the Kid-Os 2-3 times. Great job practicing your Memory Verse, Kid-Os! Our verse tells us that we need to have respect for the Lord. We will talk more about that later! Worship 3:00 Kid-Os, stay standing! One way we can show respect to God is by praising him. That means telling God how awesome he is and how much we love him! Right now, let s do that by singing this song together. I love singing with you, Kid-Os! Please sit down. Our memory verse says that if we want to be wise, we need to start by respecting God. Today I want to talk about one way that we can show God respect! We heard in our Bible story that Noah obeyed God by building a big boat, called an ark. Those instructions might have seemed weird since there was no water anywhere nearby, but Noah did it anyway because he knew that obeying God was a wise choice. In the same way, we can obey our parents! Obeying our parents is a very wise choice. Let s talk about why it s important to obey your parents! Let s see what can happen if you obey your parents, and what might happen if you don t. Image: messy room Kid-Os, what if your parents tell you to clean your room, but you choose not to? What if you choose to ignore what you re told and do not clean your room? You might have to clean it later. If you choose to disobey your parents and don t clean your room like you re told, you might miss out on doing something super fun like going to a friend s house to play or getting to watch a movie with your family! Image: cookies Yum, look at this picture! Raise your hand if you like cookies! Do you think it s wise to obey your parents when they tell you to eat all of your dinner? YES! Kid-Os, if you obey your parents and eat all of your dinner, they might give you a big, fresh, warm cookie for dessert! That would be awesome. Image: bicycle Kid-Os, have your parents told you to always wear your helmet when riding your bike? What could happen if you disobey your parents and do not wear it? Do This: Call on a Kid-O whose hand is raised. If you don t think they can handle it, just answer the question yourself and move on. If you disobey and ride your bike without wearing your helmet, you could hit a bump and fall off your bike, and hit your head on the sidewalk! Kid-Os, you could get really, 9
really hurt if this happens. It would be a much wiser choice to obey your parents and wear the helmet. Image: game with lots of pieces Kid-Os, I bet your parents have told you to put away your toys and games, haven t they? If you obey and put things away, then you won t lose pieces and toys won t get broken or lost. That s a great reason to obey! Image: book What happens if your parents say, It s time to take a break from TV and read a book, and you obey them? Well, some books have really funny stories in them, so you might get to laugh. Sometimes it s fun to read books with a friend or family member, so you might have fun reading together. Books can also be full of interesting facts and information, so you might even learn something if you obey your parents and look at a book! Image: kid with adult Let s pretend you re out for a walk with your grownups, and they say, Stay right next to me, don t run ahead. If you stay right next to them and don t run away, they might stop at a park and let you play on the playground! You d have a lot more fun if you obeyed than if you didn t! Kid-Os, sometimes our grownups tell us to do things, but we don t want to do them. Sometimes, when grownups tell us to do something, they don t tell us why. And sometimes, our grownups tell us to do something that just seems weird, like when God told Noah to build a big boat. When we choose to obey our parents, we are showing respect to God, and that is a wise choice, just like our Bible memory verse said! Now it s time to talk to God. Do you know what we call it when we talk to God? PRAYER. That s right, we call talking to God praying. God is the best friend we could ever have, and he loves it when we talk to him. God will always listen when you pray, because he created you and he loves you. You can pray anytime and anywhere, but here in Kid-O-Deo we fold our hands in our laps and close our eyes, to help us only think about the words we are saying to God. If you want, you can repeat the words of this prayer after me. Dear God, we love you. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for giving us grownups who love and care for us. Please help us to obey them.
