Page 2 June 20th - Administrative Council Meeting at 7 p.m. June 21st - Garden Club 2 p.m. June 24th - UPWARD BOUND deadline Meetings of the church: Missions, Outreach & Evangelism First Tuesday Stewardship & Finance Fourth Monday Administrative Council Third Wednesday of Trustees Second Sunday of Worship Fourth Sunday of I give thanks for our time together during the past year! It has been a great blessing to work with such dedicated, hard-working disciples. It s never easy to say goodbye, but I know that God is with us in this time of transition. God is also preparing the way for your new pastor, Rev. Justin White. You will be blessed by the pastoral leadership of Rev. White. Please keep him in your prayers throughout this month, as he prepares for his move. I m sure he will appreciate your support as he gets settled into his new appointment. Please pray as well for North Mason UMC, our new partner in ministry. As a reminder, once my current appointment at Brownsville UMC ends on June 30th, I am unable to have contact with the Brownsville congregation. I cannot serve this congregation in any pastoral way. This includes weddings, baptisms, communion, counseling, visitations and funerals. Your new pastor will support you with all of your pastoral needs. Since my new appointment will be in the same town as my current appointment, it s possible that I will occasionally see members of the Brownsville church out in the community. If this happens, I ll wave hello, but I will be unable to engage in a conversation with you. This may seem like an unusual expectation, but know that this is a good, sound policy that greatly benefits a newly-appointed pastor. I certainly pray for the best for Brownsville UMC, and for all who participate in the life of our church. You and your ministries are a blessing to this community. Please continue to share your love with one another, and with our world! Grace and peace, Pastor Pat Our New Pastor, Reverend Justin White by Susan Tollefson, SPPR Committee Chair Bishop Elaine Stanovsky is intending to appoint Rev. Just White as the half-time pastor of Brownsville UMC, effective July 1, 2018. Rev. White currently serves as the pastor of First United Methodist Church in Greenville, Mississippi. He is a gifted leader with skills in mission engagement, worship leading and spiritual formation. Rev. White completed a BS in Education Psychology at Mississippi State University and graduated from Duke Divinity School with a Master of Divinity in May 2010. He is an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church. He has experience with Sunday School and youth programming and social action activities. He lists his skills as communication and organizing, dialoguing about gender, race and sexuality, teaching, writing and curriculum, writing liturgy, leading Bible studies, fundraising, leading worship, planning relevant and theological worship, networking, musical ability (proficient in piano, guitar and voice), and spiritual direction! Let us welcome Rev. White and the many gifts and graces he will bring to his ministry at Brownsville UMC. Let us look forward with anticipation to the new thing God will do in and through our community.

Page 3 for June: Leslie Weaver Girl Scout Sunday Will Be Celebrated June 10, 2018 What a blessing we have received from opening our doors to Girl Scout Troop 44204! Thank you, God for your boundless love and rich blessings! for June: still open Helen Cuellar - June 17th Judy Parr - June 17th Evan Rogers - June 17th Come Join the Celebration Our beloved Reverend Pat Longstroth will celebrate worship with us for the last time on June 17. The end of this month will be the end of one phase of our life together and the beginning of another. As of July 1, Pat has been appointed to serve as pastor of the Bremerton UMC and will no longer be the full-time pastor of the Brownsville UMC. Let us gather together in gratitude to celebrate this past year of ministry and mission together with her, to say a fond farewell and to wish her many blessings in her new appointment. Father s Day will be celebrated on June 17 in honor of our fathers and others who have loved us, mentored and nurtured us along life s pathways.
