NATHAN HENRY IS PAID $3000 FOR THE DEATH OF HIS SLAVE, December 1864, 8 x10, details that Nathan Henry s slave died working on the military fortifications of the State of South Carolina and was entitled to the sum of $3000. Pre-printed and filled-in. (we will provide an accompanying document showing the slave was named TOM, very fine $150.00 312. AFFIDAVIT ON THE VALUE AND DEATH OF THE SLAVE TOM IN THE SERVICE OF SOUTH CAROLINA. November 24 th, 1864, three page manuscript account of the slave TOM who was the property of Dr. Nathan Henry. TOM was his driver and loaned to the State of South Carolina to work on needed military fortifications and died of disease in September of that year. Three pages of manuscript affirming his death in the service of the State, his value to the owner, and many other details regarding his health condition prior to his death. Henry was awarded $3000 for the loss of TOM. (A copy of the payment certificate accompanies this fine document. Very fine.$250.00 313.
