Page 2 To my Church Family, Words are not adequate to express my appreciation to all who attended my 90th birthday celebration on Sunday, February 12, given by my wonderful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As Tripp opened with prayer God continued to bless as we laughed, talked, visited and ate together. What a blessed day! Your many beautiful cards were read at home and your words of love will remain in my heart for a long time. The gifts given were thoughtful and so very appreciated. Thank you again for being part of my day. My love, Mary Margaret Griffin
Page 3 A Point in Time - Historical Tidbits about PBC The stained glass window, given in memory of beloved parents, William and Joanne Foushee, was a jewel adorning the sanctuary of the old clapboard Pittsboro Baptist Church building. The church grew and the time came for the wooden building to be replaced by a larger and more modern sanctuary in 1947. A church member, a descendant of the Foushees, was so upset about the clapboard building being torn down that she asked for the stained glass window and took it to her home. She stopped attending PBC for a number of years, but eventually she returned and also returned the stained glass window. It was stored in the church attic until some members renovated the old fellowship hall into a lovely chapel, where they installed the lovely glass window. The chapel has now been updated to a Children s Chapel but the beautiful window remains on display. Need-A-Ride Needs You The Need-A-Ride program needs you! Need-A-Ride is a service sponsored by PBC s Senior Adult Ministry that offers transportation for church members and others to doctors appointments, grocery shopping, and church. The current list of drivers is out of date. If you are willing to help with this essential ministry, please contact Lula Bryant in person or telephone at 919.542.2317 or email Kathy Shaffer at kshaffer@mindspring.com.

Stop by the library. Spring is a time of renewal. Read one of these new PBC Library books for a potential renewal in understanding the power of the cross, the Great Commission, and prayer. The Power of the Cross - Putting it to Work in Your Life by Tony Evans The cross is an historical event that can bring us to heaven And a current event bringing heaven to bear on us In The Power of the Cross, Tony Evans applies Christ s work to life today. In three parts, he systematically and pastorally explains three aspects of the cross: - It s Person: What makes Christ unique, and how He is the center of salvation history - It s Purpose: What was accomplished on it, and how it is to be the centerpiece of our lives - Its Power: The stability and deliverance it provides in our everyday living We wear crosses around our necks, but do we apply it to our lives? Jesus work holds incredible power for us. It s time we embrace it, for God s glory and our joy. Read The Power of the Cross to find out how. This commission includes believers today. The task may seem large, but it doesn t have to be an intimidating mandate, rather a way of living that invites people into what God is doing in their lives. However, somewhere along the line, disciple -making moved from being a part of everyday life to the sole responsibility of pastors and evangelists. The result is that we no longer feel equipped to share the lifegiving gospel of Jesus with our friends and neighbors. This isn t how things are supposed to be, and in Multiply: Disciples Making Disciples, Francis Chan and Mark Beuving show you how the joy of living your life with Christ in front of others can be restored. You ll discover the confidence and encouragement you need to step out in faith and make disciples out of the people that God has placed in your life. (copied from christianbooks.com)
