Pfafftown Baptist Church is on mission to serve God by sharing joyful life and displaying love with our greater community. Pfafftown Baptist Church March 2015 Heaven Came Down Many of you have heard my theory of the holy moment. It is my belief that, due to humanity s unwillingness to constantly embrace the Kingdom of God, our Kingdom experiences wax and wane. Think of it like love. Sometimes, even in the best of relationships, we are very aware of love and other times we wonder if love even exists. So too with the Kingdom. Some moments are simply more holy than others, not because God is more or less holy but because our awareness of or commitment to or understanding of the holiness of the moment. As people of faith we treasure the holy moments we experience and we long to experience more of them, even when we don t know how. The Kingdom can be a perplexing thing. Valentine s Day this year was one of the most holy moments I have ever experienced. That noon, eighteen senior adults from PBC who are single were treated to a first class lunch and fellowship that rivals anything found in Winston Salem. The holiness wasn t relegated to just the meal, though. From my perspective, it was all around: Friends made sacrifices to support the event. Youth shared their gifts to help. Friends made donations to complete the needs. Invitations were personally made by deacons. Decorations were created and shared by creative ladies. Gifts were lovingly made by a friend of the church. I could say more, but unnecessarily so. In Acts 4 we have a story of the early church coming together in support of one another. It seems quaint in our generation, perhaps even impossible, but for a brief while on Valentine s Day I experienced it. And it was holy. I have been affirmed by the senior adults that they enjoyed a great experience. I m not surprised. What I pray is that everyone who helped, donated, prayed, cared, etc. equally had a great experience as part of the community of love. It was a holy moment, for sure, and we all were blessed to be a part of it in any way. (Continued on page 2)

Heaven? (continued from page 1) Easter is coming in just a few short weeks, and one wonders if we are equally prepared for the holiness that is possible in the moment? True, the experience that is the modern Easter has become something approaching quaint. The decorations, preparations, activities, it all can seem so expected. Was anything of the resurrection expected? How will you prepare in your heart for a true holy experience this Easter? We don t manufacture the holiness of Easter; it s there. We open ourselves up to it. How will you open yourself to holiness? Heaven waits to come down, and glory waits to fill your soul. Be filled with the glory and holiness of Easter this year with an open, prepared and willing heart. Pastor Thomas Bounds I ve had my turn with the word; what have you to say? Make a Joyful Noise You re invited to join us: Handbells - Mondays at 7:00pm Sanctuary Choir - Wednesdays at 7:15pm Hello Church Family, So sorry about the lapse of time. It seems that it s been ages since Christmas and the first of the year. We re heading into the end of the first quarter! Where does the time go? My only excuse is that I ve been busy. This is usually down time for us, but there hasn t been much of that. That s a good thing though, and our Lord is always working! If you keep up with what s happening in our neck of the woods, you know that there are terrible atrocities occurring all around us, which is a huge prayer request. I can imagine the Lord walking among our brothers and sisters in these infested lands giving comfort and peace as only He can. We can t pray them out of the persecution in most cases, but we can pray them through it. It s mind numbing what s being done at our back door and our front door. Thank you for lifting us to the Father. A praise to Him Who is able to keep us just renewed my visa for another year! ~Blessings, Ann
