ABUNDANT LIFE TRES DIAS March 2013 Newsletter Greetings! You may be rejoicing or bemoaning our area s snowfall this winter, but remember that regardless, winter will not last forever. God promised in Genesis that the seasons will never stop, and He is ever faithful. Thank you for your feedback concerning the newsletter format. You are probably as weary as I am with the process of getting this tweaked so it opens and reads well on everyone s computers, and you can use the links to jump to the website, or forms, or emails. But, Galatians 6:9 reminds me Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. (NAS) I also appreciate you entrusting us with your concerns and prayer requests please also send along the news when God answers your prayer, we d like to share that with the community as well. Anita Rogers, Communication Chair Team formation meetings for Weekend #28 have begun, and excitement is stirring for this upcoming event. There are many "little" things that help each weekend run efficiently. The following items will need to be replenished for the spring weekend. Paper plates, disposable cups/glasses, and napkins. 2" wide blue painters tape...we use about 5 rolls each weekend. and AA and AAA batteries. There may be more as the weekend gets a bit closer. If you are curious, you can contact Randy or Lynette Rasmusson at lynette219@gmail.com. See photos from our ALTD Valentine dinner/dance fundraiser on our website: www.rockfordaltd.webs.com Go to the Photos Tab It would be wonderful if you would let us know of your intention to donate any items prior to April 15th. Sincerely, Randy and Lynette Rasmusson, Weekend Chair Committee

I am always interested in different views of things or perhaps seeing things from a different perspective. I love to find things in the Bible that make me think or that I have never considered before so here are some recent discoveries The Bible, the world's best-selling book, is also the world's most shoplifted book. The word "Christian" appears only three times in the Bible: Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16. The verse in the exact middle of the Bible is Psalm 117:8. There are 594 chapters before Psalm 117 and 594 chapters after Psalm 117. Nowhere in the Bible does it say there were three wise men - Matthew 2:1 only says: "Magi from the east came to Jerusalem" and later they present three gifts. A chariot imported from Egypt cost around 600 shekels of silver (1 Kings 10:29). That would be about $77,000. One shekel was 4 days wages. THE OSCARS I didn t watch the Oscars this year actually I never do something to do with too much pride for one sitting, this falls about the same place as sports players being paid millions of dollars in my book not much of it really makes sense to me and seems so skin deep. But I heard the next day that no one thanked God this year. That surprised me then I Googled how many people actually have thanked God at the Oscars and found that only 12 people in history have ever thanked God at the Oscars. I would love to hear what God s take on the Oscars would be. I am reminded, though, in both plenty and want, to thank God readily for what He has given me. From Ryan Bensheimer, ALTD Spiritual Director SPONSORING A CANDIDATE: If God has placed someone s name on your heart to invite to Weekend #28, pray for them, talk to them, then offer them an application. Applications can be printed from the ALTD website: http://www.rockfordaltd.webs.com/.application. It is through us that the weekends are filled so REMEMBER: Make A Friend -- Be A Friend Bring a Friend to Christ. PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF BEING A SPONSOR BECAUSE THIS CONTINUES ON EVEN AFTER THE ACTUAL WEEKEND IS OVER.

Women s Weekend #28 Update Dear ALTD Community, What a privilege and blessing it is to be a part of this beautiful Tres Dias Community! Let me begin by saying THANK YOU! Thank you for the love, support, encouragement and most importantly the prayer this community as already poured out all over the Team and the planning of Weekend #28. I know that I speak for the whole Team when I say how wonderful it is to know that we are completely covered in a blanket of prayer from all of you! Our theme verse for the weekend is: Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Together as a team we have been discovering what that verse really looks like when we apply it to our daily lives. What does it mean to really, truly be still in the midst of our full schedules and a society that is always on the move? Do we really know that we know He is God and trust Him in every area of our lives? Are we living like we believe that to be true? When we are still and waiting on Him are we just waiting for answers or are we really being still so we can be in His presence and sit, listen, trust, wait for no other reason than to be with Him? And, we know He will be exalted among the nations and in the earth but how are we exalting Him in our daily lives the joys and the struggles? So, as a Team, we have been joining together in this challenge. It has been amazing to see how God has been working and moving and teaching all of us something new about who He is and who we are in Him! This Team has been so transparent with one another. They are eager to love and serve and encourage one another. Our desire has been to KNOW Him and be in His word and to hold one another accountable in making His word active and alive in our lives. We want to be women who worship Him and daily surrender our will to HIS will and way. We hope the character God is weaving in this Team will set the tone for what He has in store for the women who will be the candidates of Weekend #28. As we look forward to our next two Team Formation meetings and journey towards the actual weekend in May, we invite you to join us in the challenge of what Psalm 46:10 asks of us! Pastor Bruce Jones once said: BUSY = Burdened Under Satan s Yoke. Together as a community let us help one another out in being free from that yoke! Let s be still before God Almighty who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords and live out what we know to be true of who we are in Him. In doing this may peace, joy, hope, rest and trust permeate our daily lives! Being Still & Exalting Him, Elke Ingersoll & Beth Welsh

Fund Appeal by Karen Weis, Leaders Chair We held our very FIRST dinner dance fundraising event on Friday, February 8, at the beautiful and classy Country Club of Beloit, as special guests of Milt and Jennifer Kodl (ALTD #23). We enjoyed a delicious meal, were highly entertained by the great vocal talent of Randy Nicholson (complete with Disco mirror ball), fun contests (including a dollar dance), the opportunity to try out Randy s Karaoke system, and have a great time of fellowship with 43 ALTD community members in attendance. Our 2013 ALTD Dinner Dance Committee included Tanya Muzzarelli, Lynette Rasmusson, and Beth Welsh. They did a wonderful job organizing the evening and providing lovely silent auction items. We raised about $1,500 during the evening. We have lots of room for many more to attend next year! We hope you will plan to make this an annual event. And by the way, there were many single people in attendance, so please know this is not a couples event! Everyone is welcome. During the course of the evening, I explained why ALTD is fundraising at this time, and thought I would share some of those explanations with the entire community so you can be informed and knowledgeable. Last fall, your Secretariat wrestled with the need to raise the team and candidate fee to be more in line with our real expenses for the weekend. Our direct cost for meals and rooms per participant for a weekend at Inspiration Center is $170 this year, and the cost is going up again next year. We increased the fee from $150 to $165 for Weekend #28 team and candidate fees. There are additional expenses for the weekend, including a mission cross for each Pescadore, Pilgrim s Guides, Living the 4 th Day booklets, Reunion tri-folds, and of course there are also the boxes of Kleenex, poster paper, and colored markers. Many ALTD Secretariat and community members donate items or don t ever ask to be reimbursed, and while this is generous and we appreciate their in-kind donations, we do not get a clear picture of what it actually costs us to put on a weekend. Our Treasurer, Kevin Busker, has told us the true amount per participant is $200, which is the standard fee in most other parts of the country to serve on team or attend a weekend. Right now, we re operating with a $35 per person deficit. ALTD has no source of income other than team and candidate fees. We have additional expenses such as the CCLI license fee for music, assessment fees from Tres Dias International, web site hosting fees, and postal and copying expenses. ALTD would like to build up a fund reserve so that we never have to turn away a candidate or even a team member who can t pay part or their entire fee. Our long term goal is to have enough in reserves so that a weekend can be completely paid for without collecting team or candidate fees. This pay it forward concept is successfully done in many other Tres Dias communities. Your Secretariat took a leap of faith last fall. Instead of raising the team/candidate fee to $175, we decided to trust God for His provision, and fundraise through special events like the dinner dance to

meet the gap. We re planning a golf outing this summer, and we hope you will support these events with your participation. We are fundraising to bridge the gap, and to keep the team/candidate fee affordable. We believe if you know there is a need, you will respond. We invite you to financially partner with ALTD through monthly giving, one time donation, or by directly sponsoring a candidate or a team member. Donations in any amount are welcome, and you can give directly through the secure ALTD website (through Black Hawk Bank) to pay by checking or savings account (no additional cost). Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards are also accepted for a processing fee of $4.75 per transaction. Donations can also be mailed to ALTD, PMB #113, 2205 S. Perryville Rd, Rockford, IL 61108-8209. ALTD is a registered 501(c)(3) organization, and your donations are tax deductible. Kevin Busker will send you a gift acknowledgement receipt for your tax records. Even if you are unable to financially support ALTD, we ask for your continued palanca prayers for this life-changing ministry in the Stateline area!
