NEW MEMBER LITANY Leader: Congregation: New Member: Leader: Congregation: New Member: Leader: Congregation: New Member: Leader: New Member: Congregation: Leader & Congregation The Church is a family of people with varieties of gifts, united by the Spirit revealed in Jesus Christ. It is the Spirit of caring for one another, of forgiving and helping each other; of weeping and rejoicing together. It is the Spirit of love revealed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. I want to share in that Spirit. The Church is a body of people with diverse needs and visions, inspired by the Spirit shining through the deeds and words of Jesus as recorded in Scripture. It is the Spirit of being open to the world and to all people as our brothers and sisters; of continual searching and learning; of saying, We believe, help our unbelief. It is the stirring toward growth in the Spirit of faith which Jesus make possible in the human family. I want to share in that Spirit. The church is a gathered people with different concerns, convictions and tasks, yet led by one Spirit who encourages, challenges, and reforms the Church. It is the Spirit which was in Jesus, who for us is the chief clue to who God is, and to what it means to be human and faithful. It is the passion leading us to nurture peace, confront oppression, and create alternatives to injustice. It is the spirit of hope revealed in the prophets and waiting to be revealed in us. I want to share in that Spirit. The Church is a covenant of people of many backgrounds, expectations and styles, called by one Spirit. I want to share in that Spirit. So do we and we want to share in it with you. We are glad for you, and we welcome you into our family here. May the gift of the Holy Spirit be ours together, uniting and leading us, and the whole world, to newness of life. We are thankful for you and glad our lives are bound together and to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. We thank you, O God, for Cathy who have come to join our family of faith. May she find among us a deep love and concern for her well-being. Enable Cathy to find her place of service among us. Grant that she may grow in every way into him who is the head of the church, Christ Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
