BE IT RESOLVED BY I lf/na'trentai DOS NA LIHESLATURAN 3 WHEREAS, Father Kenneth Louis Carriveau, affectionately known as "Pale' 4 Ken," was born on March 24, 1942, in Bay City, Michigan; and is the son of the late 5 Burton Carriveau and Bertha Wilke Carriveau; and 1
1 WHEREAS, in 1960, Pale' Ken graduated from the Holy Ghost Mission 2 Seminary in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and 3 WHEREAS, after graduating from high school, Pale' Ken attended Duquesne 4 University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy in 1965. He 5 later attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his Master's and 6 Doctoral degrees in 1968 and 1975, respectively; and 7 WHEREAS, prior to his service as a priest, Pale' Ken had served as a member 8 of the faculty and as an administrator at the University of Guam (UOG) before retiring 9 as a Professor Emeritus of Library Science in 1988; and 10 WHEREAS, after his retirement from UOG, Pale' Ken remained actively 11 engaged with the University and assisted with writing several grant proposals for the 12 Richard F. Taitano Micronesian Area Research Center. Additionally, he conducted 13 consulting work with various government instrumentalities as the Regional Project 14 Director for the Pacific Postsecondary Education Council's TRIO programs. 15 Furthermore, Pale' Ken held the position of President of the Guam Hotel and 16 Restaurant Association; and 17 WHEREAS, Pale' Ken met his late wife, Helen, after attending Mass at the 18 Duquesne University Chapel, in which they were later married. After his wife's 19 passing, Pale' Ken, with advice from Father Tom McGrath, entered the Blessed John 20 XXIII National Seminary in Weston, Massachusetts; and he completed his religious 21 studies in 2003; and 22 WHEREAS, upon the completion of his religious studies, Pale' Ken returned 23 to Guam and was ordained a Priest on June 14, 2003, by Archbishop Anthony S. 2

Pale' Ken was first assigned to the San Isidro Catholic Church in Malojloj, 2 where he served as its Pastor until 2009; and 3 WHEREAS, from 2009 to 2012, Pale' Ken worked as the Librarian at the 4 Redemptoris Mater Seminary Library; and 5 WHEREAS, in 2012, Pale' Ken was assigned to the Santa Barbara Catholic 6 Church in Dededo, where he currently serves as Parochial Vicar; and 7 WHEREAS, this year, Pale' Ken celebrates the Eleventh (11th) Year 8 Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood; and 9 WHEREAS, many individuals understand that their commitment to the 10 community is a lifelong legacy reflected in the quality of life of the people they serve, 11 and the legacy of Pale' Ken is one of selfless humanitarianism, religious service, and 12 spiritual guidance; now therefore, be it 13 RESOLVED, that I Mina'Trentai Dos Na Liheslaturan Guahan does hereby, 14 on behalf of the people of Guam, recognize Father Kenneth Louis Carriveau, 15 affectionately known as "Pale' Ken," on the Eleventh (11th) Year Anniversary of his 16 Ordination to the Priesthood in service to God, and congratulate him on his retirement 17 from Santa Barbara Catholic Church; and does further extend a sincere Un Dangkolo 18 Na Si Yu' os Ma' ase' to Pale' Ken for his many years of invaluable service, 19 dedication, and contributions to the Roman Catholic Church, and to the people of 20 Guam; and be it further 21 RESOLVED, that the Speaker certify, and the Legislative Secretary attest to, 22 the adoption hereof, and that copies of the same be thereafter transmitted to Father 23 Kenneth L.
