ANDREW S UNITED CHURCH 10:00 AM A family that celebrates God s presence through people, worship, music and outreach WE CELEBRATE GOD S PRESENCE OUR WELCOME, WITNESS, LIFE AND WORK Bonnie Cornforth CALL TO WORSHIP This is no ordinary place: this is the house of God. This is the place where the prophets cry out for peace and justice and righteousness. It is the place where God reaches down into the corners of our lives, to offer us the mystery of holy love. This is no ordinary gathering. This is no ordinary place: this is the house of God. CGP 20 *HYMN VU 333 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling OPENING PRAYER Eternal God, we come to you with hungry hearts, waiting to be filled: with a sense of your presence; with the touch of your spirit; with new energy for service. Come to us, we pray. Be with us. Touch us. Empower us as your people that we might worship you, and act in the world for Jesus sake. Amen. CGP 28 WE EXPERIENCE GOD S GRACE SPECIAL MUSIC The Lord Never Closes His Eyes (David Angerman) Peter & Barb Cook, duet Jesus taught us not to be anxious about our lives or about tomorrow. Are there anxieties that cause us to feel separated from the peace which Christ promises? Let us turn to God in prayer. CGP 30 PRAYER FOR CONFESSION (unison) Jesus, who sat at the table with outcasts and sinners, we confess that too often our words and actions are not consistent with our beliefs. Often we ignore the needy, show indifference to the lonely, and reject those who seem different from us. Forgive us, we pray. Empower us to reach out in love and acceptance. CGP 32

WORDS OF ASSURANCE Take comfort in the assurance that even those things that are hidden from memory, or are too deep for our words, are not beyond God s forgiving love. God, who knows us completely, bestows pardon and peace. CGP 42 SUNG ASSURANCE How Deep the Peace (2x) MV 95 PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION O God, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that as the scriptures are read and your Word is proclaimed, we may hear what you are saying to us today.
